North Sea Echoes "Really Good Terrible Things" album review by Constantine
"The music is haunting and beautiful, at times evoking a dreamlike state. I particularly like how Jim Matheos uses electronic and industrial sounds in a way that they become an integral part of the songwriting."

I wonder how Fates Warming fans are going to react to this album. I really like the approach they've taken with this side project, and have seen mostly positive reactions, but not in every case.

Yeah, I struggled to get into it. I think I must be in the mood to listen to this one again. It is not a bad album; it is just different from what the guys have done.

Yes, it is different and yet if we look back at Jim Matheos's solo albums, he has been writing more experimental material since the early 90's. I remember not being able to get into his first solo album "First Impressions" which was mostly acoustic-ambient music. But my tastes have changed since then and I should probably go back and re-listen to that and see what I find there now and if I appreciate it more.
