Perpetual Legacy: Symphonic Metal band from Brazil releases the cover of “Teodrama”, their next ambitious album
The acclaimed brazilian Symphonic Metal band, Perpetual Legacy revealed today the captivating cover for their long-awaited double album, "Teodrama".
Developed by renowned artist Carlos Fides (Edu Falaschi, Shaman, Evergrey, etc), the artwork promises to visually encapsulate the depth and grandeur of the sonic experience that awaits fans.
The album “Teodrama” is an audacious immersion in the four fundamental pillars that make up the structure of the Bible: Creation, Fall, Redemption and Consummation. This musically rich work promises to transport listeners on an epic journey, where each of the double disc's 20 tracks uniquely and intensely explores these crucial theological elements.
Regarding the collaboration with Carlos Fides, the band says that: “We have been with Fides since the cover of the first album and we enjoyed working with him, as in addition to delivering results of the highest standard, he is direct, assertive and punctual in his deadlines” .
Regarding the album and its concept, the singer Michelle Braglia says that: “The theme and the sound created an album that we always wanted to hear. This CD shows our evolution as musicians, singers, composers and writers, which made it possible for us to incorporate elements that we had not explored in our previous works. The public will be surprised! The concept is spectacular, since in 20 tracks we play and sing the only Narrative that involves all humanity and the only divinity in which we believe, the Triune God. The listener will notice that the songs not only contain biblical references, but they also touch on the past, present and future. It’s a beautiful, profound and transformative theme.”
The band is currently in talks with some labels about the release of “Teodrama”, which should take place by the end of this first half of 2024.
Check out the music video for the single “119: Theme Of my Songs”, released in 2021:

Who does a 2 disc history of redemption concept album? Lyrically this is fantastic! I can't imagine the crazy amount of work that went into this. I'm not normally into female fronted metal but with Leah's new album blowing me away and this being fantastic perhaps I need some reconsideration? The songs, the packaging, the production, the theme... I'm amazed.

Short Review: WOW!
Long Review:
This has to be the album of a lifetime for this band! There's no way this can be topped in their future. I had two rare things happen yesterday. One, I had the time to just listen to the album beginning to end (I've got 4 kids and two jobs - I never have time). Two, for 95 minutes I was enthralled, never skipping a track but continually captivated musically and lyrically. That has never happened with any album that long. It doesn't happen for 95% of albums that are 45 minutes or less let alone a behemoth like this. I am stunned at how much I'm loving this!
For 21 songs it seems like things would blur together. Never once. For having so much going on you'd imagine perhaps nothing would stick. It's not true at all. From the first listens on Wednesday and Thursday I was already singing melodies, having riffs coming back. I was excited to return to it. Yesterday on that full listen and today that's gotten still stronger. There are 7-8 songs I wish I could just blast on repeat but everything is hitting as I keep listening and I've been compelled to keep going.
Musically, I really appreciate the symphonic aspect (it's really well done) but musically this would hold up without it. The riffing is aggressive, complex, and diverse. Ages ago I spend years and years listening to Rhapsody's "Symphony of Enchanted Lands" but the riffing wasn't as captivating as this (though admittedly that's still one of the coolest albums ever). Even further the solos aren't just neoclassical noodling but have feel, passion, and both melodic sensibility and shredding in perfect measure.
The production is shockingly high level. The bass is audible, warm, adding a lot underneath every song while getting many open times in the forefront. The drums are powerful, tight, twisting and turning through complex arrangements but adding great power as well. The keys are perfectly mixed never overpowering the guitar work and there is zero cheese here. The atmosphere is thoroughly epic and cinematic. The mixing on this had to be crazy! I can't imagine the pains it took to get this to sound so good! Even classics like Blind Guardian's "A Night At The Opera" suffered greatly from flat, stiff production. This is more like BG's "At The Edge of Time" in terms of excellence. It's so pleasant to listen to.
The lead vocals, the choirs, are classy and exceedingly well done. I was never a fan of early Nightwish vocally because Tarja had a cold sound to her voice. Floor Jansen has stunning vocal abilities (current Nightwish, ex-After Forever) but still doesn't have the warmth I prefer. Michelle here strikes a powerful balance like some of those I prefer like Leah and Annette Olzon mixed with those operatic tendencies. The notes she hits on the chorus of "Glorious Creator" are stunning and yet there are warm melodies everywhere else. The growls are aggressive and really well done, used somewhat sparingly for those who aren't big into that (maybe 5 songs of the 21) but enough to provide strength and diversity to the more meaty tracks.
Finally, the lyrical depth is absolutely amazing, covering Creation, Fall, Redemption in its 95 minutes of music. Theologically it crushes the high points in poignant, concise, poetic ways. It's awesome. What a feat that is! There is no more important story and they did it justice. I'm surprised and had a smile on my face just reading along. The artwork tells the story as well as the music and lyrics. It's the full package.
I am shocked by this album but so glad I took the chance I did on this. I am not typically for female fronted metal. I never heard their previous release. Now here I am convinced I will be spending long hours listening to this, perhaps years pouring over this. There is just so much to love. I can hardly believe this exists because the insane amount of work this had to take to produce in terms of writing, performing, production/mixing, and art.

One more awesome review, this time from Angelic Warlord
"Perpetual Legacy deserves a great deal of credit for producing such a high volume of quality material. Despite an excess of 20 songs, Teodrama presents with remarkable consistency and continuity in that each stands on its own and is essential to the track listing. Album further proves an inspired work in light of the Biblical concept. Top-notch packaging and production round things out along with the high-level musicianship and vocals one expects of the symphonic genre. That said, and I do not wish to put unfair pressure on the group, but how do you top an album remarkable as Teodrama? If a fan of symphonic metal or power/progressive metal in its various forms, then make Teodrama a priority purchase. "

"In summary, Teodrama obviously represents a tremendous effort on all levels and is both complex yet simultaneously accessible all within the first few listens, which is quite remarkable for a collection of songs amounting to 90 minutes of music. The level of concept building, graphic presentation, song writing, execution and mix/production is excellent. No fan of symphonic power progressive metal should hesitate to experience Perpetual Legacy’s epic drama."
