Since I have to pick one I’m going with The Shortest Straw.

One seems like the obvious answer and it's absurdly good, but I really like Blackened.

This is my favorite Metallica album.

Frayed Ends of Sanity because of the Wizard of Oz intro. Great album, second favorite of theirs.

My favorite album of all-time.

At some point or another over the years, every song on here has been my favorite from the album.

Right now I'd say it's "One".

Eye Of The Beholder, The Shortest Straw and The Frayed Ends Of Sanity are all hovering near the top as well.

AJFA - is it the production?

It's more than just heavy... it's... a wall... "all there"... things like that.

It's the most "metal" album (with Holy Diver maybe).

It's got "je ne sais quoi."

The title track and Eye of the Beholder are the worst tracks, being about 2/5 for me. Harvester of Sorrow is another I don't like.

One and Dyers Eve are the best songs, with Blackened coming close behind.

The Frayed Ends of Sanity has one of my favorite metal riffs ever starting at 4:04.

My pick is Dyers Eve.

Because thrash is the perfection of music.

TBF, Metallica has more dynamic songwriting than most thrash bands.

Frayed Ends of Sanity!

Metallica carves out their last solid Metal masterpiece.

One is probably the all time best ever metal epic ever written. No space is wasted or boring. The contrasts and dynamics are right on on point. And it is worthy of its length.

Harvester of sorrow is my next favorite even if it is a little repetitive I just love the chorus and lyrics. Whole album is great.

I am expecting Dyer's eve to take the gold.

I agree on it being the #1 metal album.

I'm going with One. Great lyrics. Great melodic slow sections. A very heavy riff. One of the best guitar solos ever. It's my overall #4 song. 2nd would be Dyer's Eve, might be Metallica's heaviest.

Where's the love for the title track, though?

I agree that GoM is much better than most people (especially Pethead) think. However, it is in no way better than One.

The title track is great. However it sits on a flat plain and doesn't move from it lot (if at all) thus making it's 9mins + in length unwarranted (IMO).

Still good though.
