Musician Sir Paul McCartney says engineers used AI to pull out the voice of the late John Lennon, creating a final Beatles record due to be released later this year

and do we really want music "sung" by AI?

AI is going to be terrible, already cases of people using voices to act like they've been kidnapped. Waiting for Hunger Games to become reality.

Besides the fact that I'm not interested in hearing the voice of dead people, I don't want AI, period.
It could be used for good but already it is being used by malevolent people with bad motives, and that will only get worse in this rotten culture with no moral or ethical boundaries.

Not only is AI being used to fake voices, but now it is replacing pastors in apostate churches and lying to people about hell.  WORSE, there are atheist LGBTQ activists who are planning to use it to rewrite the Bible in their godless image.

There are also plans to eventually use it to monitor our thoughts and feelings to see who is bowing to the dictators in power and who is refusing to bow.  Then it will be used to "turn off" our access to our money, goods and services, medical care, housing, etc.

This is going to become a huge problem for the world as Satan uses AI to further his spread of death and destruction.

Mark my words.

If kept only as a supplimental tool, I can see some benefits.  There are great mastering AIs now that can help a struggling musicians get a quality master without breaking the bank.  Would it be as good as that of a human listening to the music, probably not.  But, if you are self producing an album, this might be an affordable way to go.

There are also some AI based mixing sites springing up, but they can cost as much per song as finding someone on Fiverr to do your mixing.  If the quality was there and the cost was low enough, I would be tempted to try this.

I still prefer to play my own guitars and bass and sing.  I am using a drum program on my new stuff as I don't have access to a drummer to record with locally that can work when I want.  So, programming it is!  But, I think that some drum programming has been accepted by fans over the years.  Take Def Leppard's first four albums.  It is all drum programming.  Most of us were not aware until Rick lost his arm and they had to do "Hysteria"  this way.  There are many other of our beloved 80's albums that were programmed in the studio and kept as final tracks rather than take the time to get the band's drummer in to replace the tracks.  It sped up how long it would take to make a record, and most of us didn't know until we became musicians ourselves.

So, what is the difference to you all in using some AI or programs when necessary to complete musical projects?  At least 85% of my new album will be really played by humans, and the rest were drum samples made by real humans for using later.  Those loops and fills can be customized and rearranged so that they never sound exactly the same--just like a real drummer.  Aren't both just tools if we are using them sparingly to help us complete our musical musings rather than completely creating content with fake musicians?

Didn't know that about the drum machine on the first 3 Def Leppard albums (well maybe Pyromania). I always figured they used one on Hysteria.

I've always suspected as much about Judas Priest's Defenders and Turbo. They've denied this, although they admitted that they used a drum machine on "Ram It Down".

I think Manowar might have used a drum machine on their Fighting The World and Kings Of Metal albums.

As a drummer I prefer real drums, but I don’t mind the use of drum programming unless it’s made to sound inhuman.

Def Leppard's first two albums were real drums then, on Pyromania,  Mutt instituted machines except on the cymbals. There's an interview with Mike Shipley who helped Mutt that talks about this.
