ZZ Top

Just released RAW - anybody else heard it yet?

I think it sounds amazing -gritty blues rock.  The last new release from the original 3.

Is it a soundtrack?

Sort of -its listed as a soundtrack to the Netflix documentary about them ZZ Top: That Little Ol' Band From Texas.  Basically, they wanted some new footage of the band for interviews and fill-in shots and the band just played whatever they wanted.  It sounded great and after the death of Dusty Hill, they decided to release it since its the last recording of the three original members.

I'm not a huge ZZ Top fan, but they're a go-to band when I'm in the mood for bluesy rock.  And this album sounds great - better than all there other live releases!

Finally got to see them back in 2015. Good band.

So the whole album is basically re-recordings of old songs?

Yes, but it's gritty and unpolished. If you watch the documentary all the footage of the 3 of them playing in one room together is what ended up being on this recording. I still think it's one of my favorite ZZ releases.
