Fates Warning
Any fans? Favorite albums?
I don’t have all their stuff, but I love what I have. My favorite is Inside Out, followed by Awaken the Guardian. Great band and Mark Zonder is one of my favorite drummers.

I don't love everything but when they're on, they're really good. Favorite albums are Inside Out and FWX. Songs like Pale Fire and Simple Human just grab you.
You ever check out Zero Hour? Little more metallic than FW but great stuff.

Re: Fates Warning
I used to be big into Fates Warning. I got into 'em around the time FWX came out and promptly got their whole back-catalog. They were a favorite of mine for a long time, but then I sorta phased out of prog and foolishly purged just about all my prog CDs - something I've since regretted!
I recommend checking out the band Redemption. (This one, since there are a few bands with that name.) FW's singer sang for most of their albums. I remember reading in an interview that the main guy behind Redemption is a Christian and that certainly shines through in some of their lyrics.

Re: Fates Warning
I was a big fan of their early stuff with John Arch. I remember being blown away by the song "Soldier Boy" on Metal Massacre V. That was the first we heard of them, it was U.S. Power Metal and from there they got progressively more proggy. I liked "Awaken The Guardian" a lot but after that I had to leave metal behind for a while so I didn't hear their first albums with Ray.
When I eventually went back to check out albums I missed, I didn't care for much of it. My favorite though hands-down is "Parallels." Another CMR member (Superjuice) described it well:
"Soulful vocals, some heavy riffs, somber tones, but still hot rockin' here and there. Smooth, well-blended over-all sound."
Not always a popular album because it's very commercial but I think it's their masterpiece. Was in a music store once and Joe DiBiase (bass player) came in and was really peeved to see copies of "Parallels" for $3 in the used / promo bin. He said "We worked so hard on that record!" and was getting more upset by the minute. It was painful to watch but I believed him.
After Parallels, I like FWX, Theories of Flight, Awaken The Guardian, and bits and pieces of other records like Disconnected, Inside Out, The Spectre Within, etc.
Had a chance to see them in their early days with John Arch and to this day am not sure why I didn't go.

Arch had a voice I could never get to the point of liking. Music was great though.

Re: Fates Warning
Definitely a fan!
Saw them with Arch in 2016, they played Awaken the Guardian + "Apparition," "Kyrie Eylesion," Epitaph," and "Damnation." What a show!
Favorites: Spectre Within, Awaken, Perfect Symmetry, and Parallels
Don't care for anything after Inside Out.
