Favorite Primal Fear song
These metal giants have their fair share of great songs, and choosing a favorite is pretty difficult.
The top three:
#3 - “The End Is Near”
This is quintessential PF. The riff on this song is so heavy. Just a fantastic song.
#2 - “The Man (That I Don’t Know)”
Yes, a ballad. But holy smokes this is the best ballad I’ve ever heard from a metal band and one of my favorite songs ever by anyone. The guitar solo is well done - still technically proficient, yet subdued to fit the atmosphere. The emotion pouring out on this is palpable. The huge orchestral background only adds to the emotional power. This is, easily, Ralf Scheepers' best vocal ever. But what puts this song as almost my favorite are the lyrics. PF is most definitely not a Christian band (made more clear than ever on recent albums), but the lyrics here could have been written by a Christian band. I really relate to the words. This song is the total package. I can almost - almost - put this at #1, except that the next one...
#1 - “Iron Fist In A Velvet Glove”
Included as a bonus track on Nuclear Fire, this song just lays waste to PF’s competitors. This song has it all. The vocals are just incredible, especially the layered BGVs on the chorus. The hook could catch a whale. The guitar solo is quite long, and I believe goes back and forth between the two guitarists in the band. Just when you think the solo is over, a whole new section starts. Again, too, lots of emotion on this one.

Re: Favorite Primal Fear song
There’s some good songs on the last two albums but the lyrics on more and more of their songs are trending darker and darker. I tend to like everything up thru Rulebreaker. Then it starts getting more spotty.

True, I've noticed that, especially on Delivering the Black. I really like the Apocalypse album soundwise but haven't delved into the lyrics m

I LOVE this band!
Back around 2002 or so, a friend told me about these guys.
"They sound like Painkiller-era Priest."
Went and bought Black Sun. Was NOT disappointed. Hooked ever since.
They have waaay too many good songs. I'd end up listing most of their discography.
That said, I tend to go for Six Times Dead and Seven Seals quite often when listening to individual tracks.

I don't know about these guys. I had one album in my collection (Nuclear Fire) but I decided that one version of Painkiller was sufficient for my CD shelves. So I'm probably gonna sell it someday. Or give it away idk.
I did like Angel in Black though.

You should check out their albums starting with Seven Seals. That's when they started to change their sound up a bit. But yeah, those first few albums are very Painkiller.
