A Secret Ending
Some people will call it melodic death metal other metalcore, but this is a nice and refreshing EP from a metalhead from i thought Lithuania.
Re: A Secret Ending
Here is their new E.P. I would call it symphonic deathcore.
I am usually not much into deathcore, but I find this interesting and very listenable compared to most of the generic deathcore out there.
Lyrics are very detailed too, I posted them below. This is available on Bandcamp and Apple Music, among other places.
1. Abhor the Assembly 03:46
Forgotten is the curse of the Adamic covenant
The bride of Christ robed in satanic ornaments
Look, she's embracing the Pelagian heresy
Look, she has lost her entire identity
She cannot bow to the Creator of the cosmos
When she denies the manifestation of the Logos
Nor can she be saved by the idol that she follows
Thus, her children roll and wallow in her sorrows
Like dogs to their vomit, and pigs to their mud
Do we return to frolic in deeds that caused the flood
He preached by the Sea of Galilee
a commandment to be friendly
But with these sinners all around me
it is hard not to abhor the assembly
Abhor the assembly
Countless is the brood she is nursing
Groundless is the doctrine they are learning
And it might not be too late but it is urgent
To prevent a deadly constriction by the serpent
and reclaim from it what you have surrendered
If my faith is without the Fall at its center
Why on earth would I ever need a savior
Why on earth would I ever need a savior
He preached by the Sea of Galilee
a commandment to be friendly
But with these sinners all around me
it is hard not to abhor the assembly
Like dogs to their vomit, and pigs to their mud
Do we return to frolic in deeds that caused the flood
Our deeds they caused the flood
Unless we are through Christ reborn
shall we remain an evil spawn
of ancient and disgusting rites
that shunned us out of paradise
And on the day that He returns
to save us from a world that burns
will evil hearts be drained from doubt
as He arrives to cast them out
2. Transcend the Inherited 03:07
I was born through unholy acts of transgression
I was raised outside the belief in congenital sin
And so I did not begin to celebrate my conception
Till the moment I was saved and born again through Him;
The Risen King
Tainted became the world in which I dwell
When they marched out of Eden through the gates of hell
Though by the power of our Lord Immanuel
Did I transcend the inherited
From arctic glaciers to the rivers of Ushuaia
Seven Seas transformed into eschatological lakes of fire
As predicted in the octonary vision of the prophet Zechariah
On the imminent and astonishing parousia of Yeshua the Messiah
And I suppose they could never imagine that
God Almighty would uphold His everlasting pact
And that all of them will have to face the aftermath
of the very beliefs they have been laughing at
Passing is the pleasure derived
from the carnality of secular life
Eternal are the effects contrived
from denying the atonement of Christ
Let the admonition in the parable of the thief be heeded
For another world to come will this world have to be deleted
3. Spit on My Grave 04:19
We are the remnants of The Nazarenes
Taking our faith to its roots again
Rejecting the world and its blasphemies
Impatiently awaiting the New Jerusalem
As I conjure up the memoir of a previous existence
I feel as though it does not belong to me
For the ways of the past are to repentant Christians
the summoning of a distant memory
And it's not to call upon the devil for
the reawakening of an old discarded
spirit that lies buried among the unsaved
But rather express reverence for
the Divine excision of my
unsanctified, earthbound heart
And spit on my grave
I am freed from the chains of Adam's guilt
The same ones by which he bound the earth
And even though I struggle still
for the same reason the ground was cursed
In me is now the Spirit instilled
and the burden reversed
And the burden reversed
As I rummage through the maggot infested grave
with the old, renounced and antiquated remains
of someone that only Christ Himself could save
I turn around to bid farewell, then I wave
and spit on my grave
My grave
My grave
I am freed from the chains of Adam's guilt
The same ones by which he bound the earth
And even though I struggle still
for the same reason the ground was cursed
In me is now the Spirit instilled
and the burden reversed
And the burden reversed
Descendants of the chosen eight
Are all called to the cross
So deep within a frozen state
our hearts cannot defrost
Without the intervention
of our God, the Holy One
And spiritual resurrection
through the one and only Son

The lyrics are fantastic. Not my favorite style but still looking forward to what they're doing.

Getting big Cradle of filth vibes from a couple of those tracks, particularly in the vocal department. Like the rhythmic patterns of the words, how much of the syllables are divided and emphasized and the lyrics are well written too. New blood by the looks of things, nice!

I don't know, I liked their first EP but after that the music got a bit one dimensional.

Hell Quakes is brilliant. I don't like that style at all, but the lyrics are solid, and the music is rather catchy. Good stuff.

I appreciate the overall message, but I believe with myself, I'm very sensitive or particular when it comes to Christian lyrics anymore. I ended up having a hard time for a while, until I didn't. (this hard time doesn't involve sin or thinking 'its wrong' or anything like that. Its cringe.)
Contextual one-liners for one. When the 2nd line of the first song was "The bride of Christ robed in satanic ornaments", I found myself sighing, facepalming, and talking myself into not judging it from there, and that I should press forward and give it a chance.
Secular media allusions for two. "Spit On My Grave" immediately reminded me of "I Spit On Your Grave", which is the name of 3 different horror movies, the first of which was released 1978. I felt a similar way regarding another Christian black metal entry who included "Gorgoroth" and "Lightning Swords of Death" (the name of 2 secular black metal bands) in their message of, uh.... demon slaying...

Re: A Secret Ending
Looking from the outside in (from a another perspective of someone who was a christian but is now not, I totally agree with this sentiment, it is the most cringe thing about christian metal. Black metal and death metal in particular- you don't need to dress up a sheep like a goat. It lends itself to raw beauty, and lyrics of a christian nature can fit in its own way, on its own terms. Write beautiful lyrics, reflective and thought provoking peoples of christian metal bands! People might take ya'll a bit more seriously then (in my opinion).ThomasEversole wrote:Constantine wrote:Lyrics are very detailed too, I posted them below.

Speaking of cringe- those grind-gore genre splattered so called- "Christian" album covers... lol Cringe overload.

I think up through Hell Quakes it varies enough to keep it interesting. This new stuff isn't bad but after three songs I was fatigued with the sound.Andreas89 wrote:I don't know, I liked their first EP but after that the music got a bit one dimensional.
