Iron Maiden turns 40! Empty Iron Maiden turns 40!

Post by Hardcore Christian Tue Apr 14, 2020 5:55 pm

Today is the 40 year anniversary of Iron Maiden's debut

What is your favorite track(s) off of this classic?

Coincidentally I picked up the 2015 remaster digipack about 2 weeks ago and have really got into this album!
I would rank it for sure up in my top 5 Maiden albums, my favorite tracks would have to be Prowler, Running Free, and Charlotte The Harlot

Absolutely fantastic debut album.  Running Free, Prowler and Strange World would be my favorites.

I only like the songs from this when Bruce Bruce sings them.

40 years since the first album (1980). But I think the band actually formed in 1975.

Great album.  I think my favorite track is Strange World. Quite mellow but a great song and I normally don't like slow songs.

I think the OP meant that the self-titled album "Iron Maiden" turns 40.

Yeah, I had that intention in mind Smile

Anyway yeah gotta say Killers is one of my fave Maiden albums, but this album stacks up just the same, love Di'Anno's vocals and the kinda Kiss/punk tones in some of the songs

Remember Tomorrow, Running Free, and Phantom Of The Opera are my favorites from the debut.

I actually preferred the live versions of Remember Tomorrow and Running Free from the Maiden Japan E.P. from 1981.

Killers was my first exposure to the band.  There was nothing like it back when it came out.  Overall I think Killers is a stronger album than the debut, but both are good and I remember being so unhappy - initially - when they changed singers because I liked Paul Di'anno's vocal style.

I actually remember when they started. The kid down the street loved them. It took awhile for them to grow on me as I was put off by their imagery.
