JOHN SCHLITT ~ New album..... Check it out ‘Go!’
Didn’t know anything about this so was a nice surprise!!!!

Go is a declaration of movement. Sometimes movement is a forward motion – and sometimes movement takes a momentary pause as we wait for direction. In either case, “go” does not mean to sit still in our comfort zone and do nothing. We’re either going forward or idling in expectation of God’s direction. And when the time comes to go – then we GO!
Includes unlimited streaming of Go via the free Bandcamp app, plus high-quality download in MP3, FLAC and more. see less

I love John Schlitt's music, so I am getting this!
I knew he was recording again, but I didn't know he was done with the new project.

I went ahead and did the pre-order and have the MP3s to digest over the next few days.

It seems like I like Jon Schlitt and Greg Volz in Patra but when hit comes to their solo stuff I'm just not into it. I had Greg's first solo album on cassette back in 86 called The River is Rising and that had some good songs. I have 3 of John Schlitt's solo CDs Shake, Unfit for Swine and The Christmas Project and they are average at best and I would like to sell them. I'll pass on his new solo album but I'll check out the samples or what ever songs are posted on youtube. I didn't get the Union of Sinners and Saints either. I usually focus my attention on Petra or some version of them if they release and occasional album (Petra, 2 Guys, Classic Petra and CPR). I think the next CPR album will be all original songs. They are basically a part time band doing a few tour dates as the members are either retired from music or doing some kind of ministry or projects.

I'm with Soldier, I think John is better in other bands.

I have everything John has put out except for "The Grafting". I don't want my rock heroes doing albums more akin to Sandi Patti than what they were known for.
I just say that I find all of John's solo projects to be solid listens and enjoy them very much. I do wish that he and Bob would reunite for a new Petra album, but I don't think that will ever happen.

I am usually not a fan of solo projects, but I miss John's voice on new records so much, so I am going to get this.
The three first songs samples sounded very good to my ears.

I love this new album. Since it doesn't officially release until March, I already have a contender for album of the year for 2020.

I listened through this album on BC and it left me wanting. I loved John in Petra, but haven't found his solo stuff to be terribly endearing. Perhaps I'm missing the boat, though? Could you tell me what you love about it and when I give it another spin I can listen with an ear to that? I want to "like" this album on it's own merits, rather than just supporting a Christian artist (though, that's not a terrible thing, is it?).

I love that he isn't trying to make a Petra album. He is keeping with his rock roots but playing around with styles. There is a 70's vibe on several of the songs. A couple of tracks have either a Lenny Kravitz riff or a quirky Newsboys 80's riff. He tries his hand at something more modern, too.
I guess what I love about it is this: you have a rocker who is still having fun making music and still glorifying Jesus with his craft after all these years. Instead of sounding old and tired like many musicians his age (69), you can hear that he loves what he does in these songs. Even at almost 70 years old, he can still craft a good hook with a strong message while still having fun with the music.
As far as just simply supporting a Christian artist because they are Christians, don't do that. If you love what they do, then by all means support them. But, why would you give financial support to something you despise? If I hated the pizza at a particular pizzeria, would I keep giving them my money? I can't stand the Prairie Farms Holiday Custard that Walmart passes off as real boiled custard, and they won't get any of my money for it. I think supporting artists just because they are Christian would be just as silly especially if they are putting out music you don't like. I can tell you that there are a lot of hardcore, death, and black metal bands as well as a lot of rap, hip-hop, and pop artists in the Christian realm that I would never listen to that won't get a cent from me. I am glad they are reaching some folks. God bless them! I just am not giving money to an artist that makes art I don't like. I don't think John Schlitt would want you to just because he is a Christian or that he was once in Petra. Artists want to make money, but they also want people to get and understand what they make and truly enjoy it.

I'm re-listening now. I would say this is the best non-Petra music, that is, a solo album made by any Petra or X-Petra member.
Probably not intentional but 3 of the songs contain the word GO
1) Go
5) Just Let Go
10) Let's Go
Where we GOing, John?
Horrible time to release an album called GO during the beginning of Shelter In Place. Again, probably not intentional.
