Jimi Bell (House of Lords, Autograph) is a new Rex Carroll fan!

This is a cool story. Last night i was on Facebook and i sent Jimi Bell my TorrentiaL RIFF episode on Whitecross. I told him i think he would like Rex Carroll. I sent him some clips and he had this to say about Rex.

Me: Hey Jimi, i started a new Youtube channel called TorrentiaL RIFF. It will mainly cover christian metal. Not sure if your against that or not but check it out if you have time. It's a no budget show. I record it with my phone

"Hey Jeremy!! Awesome brother. I’m not against Christian Metal at all. I’ll definitely check it out."

Me: You should check out the guitar player from Whitecross. his name is Rex Carroll. Check him out on Youtube. His solos are amazing.

"That guy is waaaaaaay better than I am. He’s crazy good! I just watched a bunch of his live solos and now I’m depressed. That over the neck tapping stuff was amazing"

[ltr]Me: You are a great guitar player too. You can pick super fast!

"Yes the picking stuff I can do but he’s got a bunch of amazing chops. I hope I never have to do a show with him. I’ll be watching more of his stuff."[/ltr]

[ltr]So after i talked with Jimi, i forwarded Jimi's comments to Rex. Rex thanked me sharing that and i told Rex to friend Jimi Bell on Facebook. I checked this morning and they are FB friends now.[/ltr]

Cool. I had no idea Jimi Bell was such a nice guy.

Love his guitar playing and love house of lords, as well.

But of course, Rex is one of my favorites. No need to talk bout him

Jimi is so cool. He lives in CT so i will see him at metal shows at the Casino. Very approachable and easy to talk to. Very cool guy.

One thing many guitarists realize about Rex is that he has big hands and is able to really spread them to have a huge reach between frets.  You can see that if you watch any live  clips of him.  
George Lynch and Warren DeMartini also have huge reaches between frets.  I'm sure that accounts for some of why they are so good.

Sure. Same with Billy Shehan from Mr. Big on bass.

Btw, have you ever noticed that Impellitteri is always trying to show in any picture the spread pf his hands on magazine or similar pictures.?

That's cool, I enjoy some HoLs.

Yes.  I think it is a typical "cool" pose for guitarists ever since Eddie Van Halen hit the scene.  
True confessions, I actually posed like that with a guitar for my college year book photo, LOL.   
I was a lousy player and have small hands, but the pose sure made me look pretty cool!

My excuse is that I was a dopey kid who wanted to be noticed...not that it worked or anything, lol
