Concerts You Wish You Had Gone To?
I dislike the word "regret" because in the end, none of this will matter.
But there have been shows I wished I had gone to, or had the opportunity to go to.
I either passed on the shows below for whatever reason at the time, or just was not able to go.
What would be your list? .
Here's mine:
*Whitecross - 1987, played at a local high school here
*Fates Warning / Attacker / Obsession - 1985, played at Studio 54 club
*Ozzy with Randy Rhoads - April 1982, Diary tour, Madison Square Garden
*Cornerstone Festival - ANY of them, never went
*Judas Priest & Iron Maiden - July 1981 at the Palladium NYC - had to work
*Scorpions / Rainbow / Blackfoot - Summer 1982, the "Blackout" tour - was ready to get tickets when the show got cancelled
Also wish I could have seen any number of other bands that only played on the West Coast or Midwest, like Holy Soldier, Guardian, Griffin, XYZ with Marc Diglio, Cacophony with Jason Becker, Icon, etc.
Or bands that only played in Europe like HB, Universe, Silver Mountain, etc.
Or some non-metal bands in their heyday like The Motels, The Fixx, Journey, Tears For Fears, etc.

I'm sure I haven't gone to tons of shows compared to many here, the best of which was The Crucified. Rounding out the top 3 would be Galactic Cowboys and Saint.
The Crucified is the hardest one to include in this statement but I have always said I would trade all the shows I attended to see one band in their prime, around 1988 or 1989.
That band is...

I wish I had gone to the final appearances of KISS and Alice Cooper here in Nashville. I don't regret not spending all that money, though. Concerts are ridiculously priced nowadays to the point I can't afford to go.

For me
Cranberries circa 2011/12 they were coming to CT and I had tickets but had surgery to remove my gallbladder (emergency situation) and was still recovering from it when the show came about
David Bowie circa 2000 he was in CT on 3 diff occassions tix were 50 bucks
Would have loved to have gone to Cornerstone 2001 when Deliverence played

I never saw an entire Saviour Machine set. At Cornerstone '98 they played opposite the final Unashamed show. At Cornerstone '01 they played opposite Stryper, who were doing a one-time reunion show, while S.M. had a whole next album pending (Legend III:II). Ha ha. Oops. Both times I made it to S.M. late and half-way through their set.

More recently I missed a chance to see August Burns Red. Saw Killswitch Engage instead.
Also, Fates Warning, Flotsam & Jetsam, and Prong (separately) all came through my area and I missed those shows. They wouldn't have been expensive either, so I'm kicking myself big time.

Of the bands mentioned so far, I've seen Galactic Cowboys, Kiss, and David Bowie.
Galactic Cowboys opened for King's X at a club called Tramps (around 2001).
Kiss was 1977, on the "Alive II" tour.
David Bowie was on the "Low / Heroes" Tour in 1978.

I'd say Whitecross, when they played at Nordic Fest in Oslo. Don't remember the year.

It would have been cool to see Stratovarius with their classic line-up, but no can do . There's so much to see and so little time.

So you were somewhere just behind me. I was in the very front (slightly toward the left) alternating between headbanging and taking pictures.

Dream Theater - Breaking The Fourth Wall
I wish I had made it to that show, but I was out of the country attending to some family business.

Re: Concerts You Wish You Had Gone To?
I wish I had seen Dream Theater when they were in their "Images & Words" prime.
By the time i saw they were coming to Madison Square Garden, it was their "Train of Thought" phase of dark, less melodic, more mechanical playing. I saw that the set list was 90% those songs and I chose not to go.

Re: Concerts You Wish You Had Gone To?
1. Clash of the Titans tour ‘91 with Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax plus opening band Alice In Chains.
2. Judas Priest Painkiller tour with Pantera and Annihilator.
3. Iron Maiden at the Long Beach Arena. The one from the Live After Death album.
4. The Crucified. Any show in their prime! Maybe one with Mark Johnson and one with Jeff when Pillars of Humanity was a new release.
5. Tourniquet with Guy Ritter

Re: Concerts You Wish You Had Gone To?
A few more...
Ozzy on the Diary of a Madman tour. Randy Rhoads was amazing and one of the greatest ever! RIP
Metallica on the Master of Puppets tour. RIP Cliff Burton (my favorite metal bassist)
Suicidal Tendencies on the Lights Camera Revolution tour. Rocky George is awesome!
A show when Van Halen started out would’ve been very cool to witness if I was older. I was only 2 when they released the debut album. Maybe the 1984 tour!

Yes, I also mentioned the Diary tour at the top....I had a chance to go and passed on it.
I was afraid because I heard that Ozzy was painfully loud and I knew nothing about hearing protection back then (and had precious little money for it anyway). Didn't know Randy would be passing so soon. Around the same time I heard a King Biscuit Flower Hour live show on the radio of Ozzy with Randy and I seriously thought there were 3 guitar players. I could not believe how incredibly fluid and talented he was.
Van Halen - I did see their famous "opening for Black Sabbath" show in 1978. Had some idea who they were, but knew none of their songs at that point. Anyway, they were obviously drunk, wasted, whatever...and sloppy. But I could tell that the guitar player was something special (mind you, Madison Square Garden had a crappy sound system back then). They were still way better than Sabbath, who played a lackluster, short 1-hour show and only 1 encore. Back then that was considered a rip-off. It was a big disappointment.
Post Script: Saw VH again many years later with Gary Cherone. Yes, no DLR but it was actually a better show. They were incredibly tight and more professional. I mean, they were smoking. One of the better shows I've seen.
There are actually plenty of VH live shows on You Tube that you can check out, but there is unfortunately precious little live video of Ozzy with Randy. Even of Ozzy with Jake.

A: Too many to mention but I dare say the number might equal the bands I have seen perform
