Signum Regis announces new album

I dont mind the new lead singer so Im looking forward to hearing more.

Anything by Signum Regis is an automatic buy from me!  I'm looking forward to this one.

If you pre order the CD from them in comes with autographs if thats something you want.

I saw that!  Pretty cool though a bit $$$ ordering from Europe...  I'm curious if there will be US distributors.

It's acoustic? I'll have to listen first.

I'm pretty underwhelmed by the first two songs. Not that the new singer is a problem for me, I listen too much power metal to get attached to only one type of voice. It's just that the songs don't grab me, I Always Go All-In sounds particularly awkward and forced.

Signum Regis music has a way of sneaking into my head through the back door so to speak, so I can't be sure at the moment of course. However, the first signs are not as good. Add to that the extremely fierce competition in power metal this year, and you can imagine this album will not find its way to my collection anytime soon.

I think it refers to a more natural or honest way of recording everything. Sounded pretty good on Decennium Primum.

This was written in their website: "One of the interesting aspects of the production is, that there are no triggers and drum samples on drums. The sound is 100% acoustic" . So it was about the drums.

Ok, that makes sense. I think I liked the past singer's voice better.

I walked away from the ordinary world of metal because the lyrics weren't worth hearing. I have to say, musically the new tracks are wonderful. Lyrically, these are some of the worst lyrics I've heard, especially Kings of the Underground. They are extremely cliched and really odd for Signum Regis. Their words were poetic, historical or biblical. These? They make me appreciate Narnia and Christian Liljegren's bands' "We're going to rock" type lyrics and make them sound good by comparison. As for the vocals, I'm not into the new vocalist but he's not bad. I love Michael Kiske's voice (classic Helloween) but I've never been too big on other power metal vocalists with high thin vocals. It's a general turn off for me. Mayo had that grit that gave the band an edge.

I did wonder about the lyrics but was waiting to hear more.

^Yeah I'm no fan of these lyrics either...  But I recall when the first single was released, I guess Ronnie got some similar feedback from others and mentioned on FB that this new album will have a pretty broad spectrum of lyrics, including some in the same vein as Damnatio Ad Bestias I believe.  So I wouldn't write them off just yet.

I actually have always liked mr. Liljegren's lyrics. For example "Heavenly Love" from Narnia's debut album "Awakening"

I should have been more clear. Having many projects fronted by Christian he always has that one song about how the band "rocks." Divinefire "Passion and Fire," Audiovision "We Will Go," Narnia "Reaching For The Top," Golden Resurrection "Are You Ready For The Power." I'm sure that's not the end of the list but they are all cheesy though the song itself might be good. I love We Will Go and Passion and Fire. The lyrics are over the top but they are bold for the Lord while these Signum Regis lyrics are just corny.

I listened this morning, Im really looking forward to this release.

Yeah. Listened to this and it's musically excellent again and it's nice to hear their faith coming through. I don't need it to be 100% on that by any means. I just don't listen to The Eyes of Power much because it doesn't have anything in that vein.

Man, I hate that pic Metal Temple has on the site but yeah, they seem to love it.

Well, like most christian review sites, Mauce tends to be a bit too generous, especially for the bigger players in the subgenre (which SR is, from a christian metal perspective). So I'm taking that one with a grain of salt.

As for Metal Temple, they're a bit hit or miss. Nice reviews, but that picture annoys me.

I'd rather wait for the review sites that have been more critical towards SR (lordsofmetal, AMG)

Yeah it's pretty awful.  They've had that picture for years too.  You'd think they'd have changed it by now... but nope.

They just released this new song and I really like it.    
I am generally not a big fan of the band but I have liked all the new material I've heard so far:
