I love that Rey is doing more studio work, especially w/ ex-members of sacred warrior, but this is too djent-y for me.  I don't mind modern metal especially electronics, but the 7-string abuse thing was a mistake to my ears and turned the guitar into a bass.

I like what he's doing vocally, and I'm a big fan of low tunings......I just don't like the verse riff.  I don't think it's "djenty" at all.....song gives me a Slipknot vibe, which just isn't my thing, but Rey mentioned Corey Taylor/Stone Sour, so it makes sense this "heavy" project sounds like that.

I'll be interested to hear more, though.  His growl is more than decent, and what he's started doing here would sound GREAT in a Scar Symmetry type setting....

I talked w/him a bit at Audifeed 2018, he said a lot of his critics said he could only do the high operatic vox like Geoff Tate, he wanted to do something different and prove them wrong. They played live there, but I was not too keen on it. Listening to bits of the lp on youtube and I sorta feel the same way, sounds a bit like metalcore at times...

I've had this album for a while, but haven't had a chance to listen.  So many new discoveries on Google Play music have been vying for my time.

Does this remind you guys of Disturbed a bit?

It's pro, and Rey sounds great, but it just doesn't appeal to me.

It has all the elements, but it's not catchy somehow...

I have no interest of coming back for another listening.

Yeah, this is an outlier in the catalog of Perra’s fine musical career. It was very aggressive and I didn’t like it at all.

Like Disturbed, I enjoy a song or two at a time but can't do a steady diet of it.

Still a sound I can do a song or two then I lose interest.

Interesting song, was kind of generic nu metal until about 2:20 then they dropped a couple breakdowns and a nice guitar solo which picked things up. I'll check out more, the debut has some good songs.
