Gary Lenaire - No Time Now
His new album is being released on the 29th July. It's not going to be Christian, but with Guy singing on one song it may have something... well, I can hope!
Anyway, here's his website which is still a work in progress
https://www.garylenaire.com/
I appreciate that maybe this thread should be on the non-christian side, but as it concerns past Tourniquet members I thought I'd post it here...

Re: Gary Lenaire - No Time Now
I always liked him as a guitarist and his vocals were cool too.

Re: Gary Lenaire - No Time Now
Here's a preview:
Songlist:
Stop the Bleeding
Wasted Fire
No Time Now
Fell Sirens to the Sea
At the Gates of Paradise
Monkeys in the Family Tree
Sensory Cynicism
Axiomatic Primacy
Karmic Lords of Ensō
Little Stars
Guy Ritter sings the choruses in Stop the Bleeding, which is quite fitting
Gary has said in his website that this album also has songs from his Talking Snakes project.
Based on the titles alone half of the album seems to be those.
All from "Monkeys in the Family Tree" to "Little Stars" are Talking Snakes songs.
At first when I looked at the songlist I and knew about this Talking Snakes things I was disappointed that there was no "Knowing the Tree of Good And Evil" there. It was the best Talking Snakes song.
But now as I listened to the preview I was glad to hear that it actually is in this album but apparently with a different name (it's probably "At the Gates of Paradise").
It is the doomy one that opens and closes the preview video. Also the part from 0:41 to 0:50 is from that song too. I love that song.
I have to admit though that I used to rip the Talking Snakes songs from some website years and years and years ago. There simply wasn't a way for me to buy the songs anywhere. I tried iTunes or something like that but it just said I'm not allowed to buy the album from my region.
I'm sure this time buying works from all around the world.

Is ITunes the only place to get this? I want to get it, but I don't like giving money to Apple.

Here it is folks. Unbelievable if you ask me. The other songs "Wasted Fire" and "Fell Sirens" are pretty good too. Gary's vocals still haunt my soul and get me fired up. Awesome to hear Guy again too on this song

Re: Gary Lenaire - No Time Now
The rhythm guitars sound too much like a demo recording. They weirdly sound completely different from the quality of the rest of the music (at least in Stop the Bleeding). And drums somehow sound like they were programmed. Maybe he's using digital drums.
The songs themselves sound good. I love to hear Guy Ritter again!

Re: Gary Lenaire - No Time Now
Bought the album from iTunes.
Initial impressions:
STOP THE BLEEDING
The production still sounds a bit weird to me. There is this "drum machine" feel in drumming and the rhythm guitars sound muddied when compared to the rest of the sounds. There's this odd "demo'ish" quality to that.
That said, this song is pretty cool. One of the riffs reminds me a bit of Dysfunctional Domicile on Psycho Surgery.
I love Guy Ritter's vocals here. And Gary hasn't lost his vocal abilities either.
Nice to hear Guy trying those high notes in the end of the song. He doesn't quite get to the levels of his old falsetto vocals but he's still very good.
The solos are amazing!
WASTED FIRE
The opening riff (the one that plays in the verses too) is not that interesting and there's still this weird demo-like quality to some of the sounds. But man, as soon as the part in 0:18 begins, it's goosebumps all around! That part is now one of my all time favorite Gary Lenaire material!
And the solos!!! The lead guitar work is really great here.
NO TIME NOW
Nice mellow and sad acoustic song. The production quality here is really good. Everything sounds crisp and clear. I wish the the earlier songs would've had this kind of quality in the rhythm guitars.
Really pretty song. I like it a lot.
FELL SIRENS TO THE SEA
This was originally "Knowing the Tree of Good and Evil" in Gary's Talking Snakes project.
Some changes has been done, for example the lead guitar at the beginning is different. I liked that in the original better, but it's not bad here.
I loved the original Talking Snakes song and kinda like its "rougher tone" a bit more (which, I know, is odd after me complaining the "demo quality" in the first two songs), but this new version is really great too. I absolutely love Gary's vocals here!
And I can't get enough of the church organs. Great stuff.
AT THE GATES OF PARADISE
This was originally a Talking Snakes song called "Goodbye Father" which I loved and this updated version is really good too. It's a mellow instrumental with lots of beautiful lead guitar work and solos.
MONKEYS IN THE FAMILY TREE
This is a Talking Snakes song. It has a bit of an electro-industrial vibe to it. It's pretty heavy stuff. Another instrumental. It's pretty good.
SENSORY CYNICISM
A Talking Snakes song.
It's a grooving funk song with a bit of a metal edge to it. Gary sings with clean vocals here and at some points uses some autotune effects (not to correct the vocals but to have this weird effect). He gives some shouting vocals too near the end of the song, but it's nice to hear him sing clean vocals too.
I love the bass riff.
AXIOMATIC PRIMACY
Talking Snakes song.
Short instrumental with "70's synths".
KARMIC LORDS OF ENSO
Talking Snakes song.
Industrial metal. Pretty heavy.
I'm not much into the industrial metal style but Gary does some great vocals here.
LITTLE STARS
Talking Snakes song.
Some sort of avantgarde pop, with a bit of funk and synthpoppish stuff.
I remember I wasn't originally much into this song but I kinda like it now that I already knew what kind of stuff it is.
So, there are really 3 new songs here. The rest are from Gary's Talking Snakes project.
As I wasn't ever able to buy the Talking snakes album because all services prevented me doing so because of region issues I'm now glad to be able to pay for these songs after so many years.
I guess most of the people reading this hasn't ever heard the original versions so to most these all are new songs.
As the Talking Snakes project had some avantgarde feeling to it, it must be noted that this album goes to many different weird places and is not fully heavy metal. Gary himself has noted the songs being "all over the place" on his website so this should not come as that big of surprise to anyone following him.
All in all, I think this is very much worth buying. Guy Ritter alone makes it a must have for fans of Lenaire and Ritter. And the solos in the new songs are REALLY good. The lead guitar work in general is amazing here. The Talking Snakes songs can be a hit or miss, but there are some amazing songs there too.
EDIT:
Oh man, I really REALLY love the 0:18-0:33 and 1:19-1:34 parts in Wasted Fire!
Easily one of my all time favorite parts in all of heavy metal out there.
I would've loved a full song been made based on that.

Re: Gary Lenaire - No Time Now
Love what I have heard, sampling the first 4 songs on Youtube
It just bums me a bit, because this album shows that Ritter and Lenaire could get together for another Echo Hollow album
But this album is shaping up to be pretty awesome

Hearing Lenaire and Ritter together again reminds me of what a phenomenal band we lost when they left Tourniquet.

Man, I totally love Stop the bleeding.
AAAAAHHH "STOP THE BLEEDING" !!!!
RRRAAAAAAA Stop the bleeding OOAAAAAAAAAAAHHH
With a better production of the rhythm guitars or with the sound of the TQT debut
this probably would have been one of my alltime favourite TQT song.

As I listened to it I couldn't help thinking "okay, *this* is what Tourniquet's been missing!" While I've enjoyed more recent Tourniquet stuff, I haven't loved anything since the first three albums.
