Theocracy US shows

So I about wet myself the other day when a concert popped up in Bandcamp. Theocracy is playing Chicago on June 28th.

Theocracy. Live. Within driving distance from my house. Needless to say I'll be in attendance at that show.

Looking at the band's web site I see they are playing a couple dates in Texas and in Jacksonville and Raleigh.  Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!

I felt the same way when I heard about the Dallas show. One hour from home, no way I'm missing it.

NOPE.    Sigh...  I REALLY want to go and I was seriously considering road-tripping it out to Texas but it's just not feasible.  Maybe SOOOOOOOOOOME day they'll make it out this way!

Dependson where you go. San Antonio was nice when I visited there 20 years ago. At least it was better than South Florida.

The Theocracy show in Chicago was phenomenal. I'll write more about it later when I have more time. For now I'll just leave you with this.

Doh!!!

Matt repeatedly stated how he was blown away by the crowd response and how it was comparable to their European shows. Who knows? Maybe they'll come back.

I'm really looking forward to the Dallas show in July. I didn't think I would ever get the chance to see them live.

By all means go and encourage others close by to go. It's definitely a good time.

Alright, as promised.. a few more details about the Chicago show.  I don't have a set list, but they played stuff off off Mirror, As The World Bleeds, and Ghost Ship. They didn't play anything off of the debut album.

The crowd was pumped. Near the end of the set they played I Am and I thought they would finish with that. But then they played Putting the Demon to Rest. After that the crowd was still wanting more and Matt mentioned that they played everything on the set list that they rehearsed. He said they would have to play something they knew, at that point they played 30 Pieces of Silver and finished the show.

Funny story. I was at the back of the crowd for the opening band Acracy. I looked over to my right near the end of the set and standing about 10 feet from me was Matt Smith! I thought about going up to him but felt a bit intimidated and didn't. Some other guys stepped up to him and greeted him and he disappeared back by the bar somewhere. So I missed my opportunity. The one thing I did notice about him though.. I'm about 5'8" and I noticed he's shorter than me!!

^ haha I had a similar experience, bjorn. A few years ago I went to a Theocracy concert in Nashville. We were there an hour or so early and Matt and the band were just standing there. I finally got the courage to say hi and ask for an autograph, but I must have been really awkward. How do you say, "Your music has changed my life" to someone who doesn't know you without it feeling a little weird Oh yeah, and I'm also 5'8". Size matters not! haha
