Which bands influenced you the most lyrically?
I've been thinking lately of how strongly some bands' lyrics made theology or concepts about Christianity or society come alive to me as a youth. For those of you who have also experienced that, who would you say are the top 5 bands that did so for you?

I can't really make a list, but Believer's No Apology made a big impression on me when I first listened to it, and I've come to use a part of the song as a personal motto: "No more will I regress backward from that which I believe / I owe no man an explanation / Expect no apology". I might go as far as have it tattooed on myself someday.

I've always loved the up front but dark approach of Mad At The World, early Disciple, Bloodgood, Stryper, and Rose. Also, the mix of the gospel with social issues of Rez has been a favorite of mine. On my new blues album, I have tried to balance all of that.

Yeah, Mad at the World was influential to me too.

I've always related to Jimmy Brown's lyrics in Deliverance. I also like Matt Smith's lyrics with Theocracy or Kevin Young with Disciple.
Mostly, I think anything that promotes Christianity as opposed to religious tradition is something I'll take notice of.
