Harmony "Theater of Redemption"
Some have said this was a bit of a let down from the previous release, I don't see it that way at all!

It took a little time to grow on me, but now I really enjoy this album!

It was less aggressive than it's predecessor, but definitely on my list of best albums of 2014.

Love this whole album. My favorites are "You Are" and "In Search Of."

Re: Harmony "Theater of Redemption"
I'm new to the dance, as it were, w/this band. Picked up this and the last one back to back, "Chapter" first and this one a few weeks later, so I haven't had the time to really digest either. Having said that, think I like this one better, and aggression or how heavy it is, has never been the criteria I judge an lp by, quality is...

Re: Harmony "Theater of Redemption"
Big Harmony fan. Like Pershing, it took me a few listens to fully appreciate it, but Theater of Redemption is definitely a good album. Is it as good as Aftermath? No. That one still ranks as one of my all-time favorite metal albums. I like the vocals and keyboards better on Aftermath, and the lyrics on that were quite a bit better IMO.
It is however a more interesting album. It's more diverse, and shows some real artistic growth. Son of the Morning is my favorite song, but I enjoy all of it. I hope they continue this development in the future.
I have this odd theory that it's a concept album in a loose sort of sense - about the search for fulfillment. The theme seems to run through most (possibly all?) of the songs in some way, culminating in the closing track. I'm probably reading too much into it though.

Aftermath is great too, though my favorite with these dudes is Darkwater - Where Stories End. The Harmony albums are more directly Christian themed though.

Could've swore I had something from this band at one time but did not care much for it, might have to go back and re-visit that one...
Just skimmed through it on youtube, eh, I see why I was not all that impressed at first w/this band...am now though!

Re: Harmony "Theater of Redemption"
The first album has some good songs and shows a lot of promise. The title tracks is excellent, and When Shadows Fall, Maze of the Past, and She are fine tracks as well. It falls short of greatness, however. Some of the songs are a bit flat and it feels like the bands was still finding their way at that point. I have suspicion that the songs I mentioned were written later than the others.metaldude wrote:No love for the Dreaming Awake album?
Overall, it's a pretty good debut and shows that the band has potential, but it's nowhere near as good as what came after, and I wouldn't recommend it as a starting point for someone unfamiliar with their work.

"Dreaming Awake" is their best! For me, they've been getting weaker as they go.

????!!!!
Actually, this is not the band I was thinking of, it was "Heartcry", never had "Dreaming Awake", but from what I heard, Verbum Lux has it nailed pretty well...

Re: Harmony "Theater of Redemption"
Their first one had much bigger hooks and was just more accessible overall. The latter releases just plod along to me. The latest one I kept for about a week before selling as not one song really grabbed my attention. So, I may be mad, but at least I am convinced!

SQUIRREL!!!!!
The whole "attention" thing gets worse when I consume gluten. I truthfully should be tested for A.D.D. I have all the symptoms.

Re: Harmony "Theater of Redemption"
I have only given it one listen but I did not care for Theatre of Redemption much. The main reason I liked Harmony to begin with was because of the vocalist. I really enjoyed his singing. For me its a toss up between Dreaming Awake and Aftermath. Both are good. But Dreaming Awake has some strong melodies. Like the song Remember for example.
Listening to the new one I have a hard time getting into it because of the new vocalist. So I think my bias probably prevents me from giving a fair review of the new album.
