Metalcore
Uh oh! I might get stoned but I'm willing to risk it...
Does anyone here like metalcore or hardcore? I'm killing myself on Fit For a King and Being As An Ocean right now.

Welcome Mirkwood! While metalcore is certainly not the preferred style 'round these parts, we've got a few fans. Hardcore Christian, where you at?

A few of us. It's not my favorite genre, but I like at least what used to be called metalcore. I'm old and don't even know the bands you name, but August Burns Red, Phinehas, Becoming the Archetype if they count, plenty of others, sure!

Re: Metalcore
Kerrick, thank you for the welcome.
I enjoy a lot of the bands in which I've seen discussed on this forum.. I'm hoping to lurk and find some new new music (or at least new to me )
Grindboy, thanks for the reply. Those are some good bands you listed! I realized recently that everything I was listening to came out in 2007 or much before that... I'm not old but new music has definitely made me feel a bit so

I have answered the call!!!!Kerrick wrote: Hardcore Christian, where you at?
Hey Mirkwood, Ya Im the probably the only self proclaimed "core" listener around here.
I love Fit For A King, Slave To Nothing has been a constant player around here.
Im also proclaiming Haste The Day's Coward album of the year!!
This Friday I get Phinehas' Til The End pre-order
Im also into For Today, Sleeping Giant, War Of Ages, Underoath, As I Lay Dying, Norma Jean, Into The Flood, Blood Of The Martys, Earth From Above, Hope For The Dying, that's just a few
I do enjoy classic thrash and glam metal though. If not for joining this forum 2 years ago I would've only listened to core
These guys really opened my tastes up a bit by getting me into Mortification, Stryper, Tourniquet, Deliverance, Vengeance, Holy Soldier, Seventh Avenue

Hardcore C, hey! That is all around awesome. I actually haven't listened to Coward yet, I will definitely give it a listen now.

Good list. I'll add Gideon, The Devil Wears Prada, and Saving Grace.
AILD is good but I wouldn't call their last one "Christian."
Check out Facedown Records. They're having a sale on CDs (as low as $1) for a few more days.

Re: Metalcore
The only metalcore band I'm into is Trivium... I'm also into Demon Hunter and Living Sacrifice but they are only one time listeners to be honest. When I get a craving for them, I put on some of their stuff and get my fix in 10 or 20 minutes. I'm not too big on that scene but, welcome to the CMR, friend!

Re: Metalcore
Welcome dude. I don't listen to alot (that's for Kerrick) of core, but I do listen to War of Ages, Phinehas, Saving Grace, Sleeping Giant, HaShem, and The Death in Me. I'm more of a thrash, power, and doom guy.

Re: Metalcore
While metalcore is not my favorite genre, I certainly dont turn my nose up at it. I think the problem is alot of metalcore sounds the same, but there are exceptions out there. Fit For a King being one of them.
Also worth a listen in metalcore:
War of Ages
A Plea for Purging (I guess they are called "Djent" now I hear)
As Hell Retreats (they arent bad)
Becoming the Archetype
The Burial
For Today
Saving Grace
Wrench in the Works (Decrease/Increase has some insane drumming, at least i think so)
Living Sacrifice (Lets not forget these guys are now metalcore too)
My preference lies in good ol death metal, but those are the metalcore bands that stand out to me offhand

Oh and Mortal Treason isn't a bad metalcore band, though I much prefer their second album which is death metal with a lot of keyboards.

Re: Metalcore
Welcome, Mirkwood.
My musical loves is split more or less between Metalcore and Death Metal.
No one's mentioned Oh, Sleeper yet.
Beartooth is excellent, too.
Don't know if you prefer to stay on the Christian side of things, but also:

I'm into "core" music too. Lately I've been digging oldschool hardcore. Like xDisciplex AD and Seventh Star.
Re: Metalcore
Love those guys used to watch old Seventh Star and Jesus Wept videos when I was little over and over.Friendlypirahna wrote:I'm into "core" music too. Lately I've been digging oldschool hardcore. Like xDisciplex AD and Seventh Star.

Re: Metalcore
I do like some Zao, Living Sacrifice, Demon Hunter, (though I've never heard an entire lp from DH), that's about it, perhaps some songs here and there...

Re: Metalcore
I did enjoy Hardcore from back when in christian music. I forget most of the bands names but I remember focus I think they were called and was it the blamed and some other stuff. I really enjoyed that kind of hardcore. When I first heard Living sacrifice reborn I was over the moon when I heard that album I could not believe my ears! I was sorely dissapointed with the following album and gave up on them after that.Mirkwood wrote:Uh oh! I might get stoned but I'm willing to risk it...
