Sacred Warrior and King James .. two albums that I like the more I listen to
OK, I admit it, when Sacred Warrior's new release came out, I was initially disappointed with Eli's vocals on it (Even though I do have all of The Sacrificed's releases). Not that they were bad, because they are not. I really don't know why I didn't like them at first. However, I gave it another shot over the last several days and I have found myself liking it a lot.
The King James MaXimus cd kind of had the same affect on me. Even though the vocals didn't grab me at first here either, it was more the style of the new songs that threw me off. But like SW's cd, I have gone back and given this repeated listening the last several days and I have to say, I really love this cd.
Anyone know what is up with SW?
Are they going to do another album?

As a cool side note...King James has all the lyrics from their MaXimus album right on their Facebook page

I was sold on Eli in Sacred Warrior the first time I heard the title track. Jealous Love was the icing on the cake.

I had no problem with the SW album, it was awesome on first listen. King James is enjoyable but not one I listen to a lot.

What left me cold with SW was not the vocals. I am a fan of MELODIC metal. The first four SW albums were all great slabs of melodic heavy metal. The latest album went far more in a power metal direction. It lacked the melodic quality of previous SW albums. I also didn't hear nearly as many hooks as the old days. I realize they're a different band now, but that's why I was (and remain) disappointed with the latest SW album.
As for King James...the new songs range from good to terrific. Waiting For The King is awesome. But the re-recorded songs are...um...not awesome. At all. I far prefer the original versions. I would have preferred the band just release an EP of new stuff, or better yet record an entire album of new material. That's why Maximum was (and remains) a disappointment to me.

I always thought of SW as a power metal band. Temples on Fire fits right in on the new album and it's from Obsessions.
Not starting something, just my opinion.

I can agree with that, for the most part.
I thought Rebellion was very much a glam metal / melodic metal album, but starting with Master's Command I thought they started going more towards the power metal side.

Wasn't that crazy about the last SW at first either, but it quickly grew on me, love it now!

THIS EXACTLY!!!!
As for Sacred Warrior, there were two things I didn't like so much. The songs lacked a hook, and Eli's vocals are buried in the mix so that I cannot understand him at all. I have the same issues with his other band. He's got some pipes, so why continually bury them in the mix like you are trying to hide?

I like the way they redid the songs.. I actually like both the original and the new.

Funny you guys should be asking about new Sacred Warrior music. This popped up earlier today on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/sacredwarriorband/photos/a.200077476963.131420.50809081963/10153005794961964)
Bruce and Steve tweaking an epic new track after Tony knocked out some killer drums... stay tuned for new music!!

I liked the Sacred Warrior album, but I agree with the statement that the vocals are buried on it. I like the King James new album as well, but would prefer all new songs. I think the new Worldview Cd was amazing though!
