Barren Cross
I can honestly say that Barren Cross are absolutely the Christian Iron Maiden.
Especially with the Atomic Arena CD and some of the songs on State of Control CD.
I am hearing No Prayer for The Dying CD and Fear of The Dark CD, and some of Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff in Barren Cross songs.
I am not hearing any Powerslave or Somewhere in Time or 7th Son CDs from Maiden in any Barren Cross songs.
But I am hearing tons of Tattooed Millionaire CD, Balls to Picasso CD, and maybe even some Skunkworks CD from Bruce's solo stuff type of sound in Barren Cross songs.
The beginning of The Stage of Intensity reminds me of some "Tears of the Dragon" from Bruce's solo stuff on the Balls to Picasso CD.

Re: Barren Cross
I thought they were working on a new record after Birth Pangs. I hope they continue and put together an album.
I'll have to pull out some BC later today. It's been a while.

Re: Barren Cross
Last I heard was they were going to record a song or two every couple of months. But they said that a year ago or more!
Re: Barren Cross
Some new BC would definitely be a welcomed addition to my collection.

Don't hold your breath for a new BC album.
I am betting it never happens.
Has been waaaay too quite, and Michael Drive / Mike Lee won't respond to questions about it.

Re: Barren Cross
My bet is that sales from their live album, the RFTK rerelease, the Demos, and the video were disappointing....
And after that, maybe they couldn't justify the expense and time to do it.

Re: Barren Cross
I had read there was a death in the Lee/DRIVE family recently. I keep telling myself that is why there's been no action from B.C. My gut says NoOneIsHere is right though. Too bad because I would love to hear some new music from them.

After hearing that new tune they played in concert, I kinda lost interest anyway.

Re: Barren Cross
They do have a new song out "Whitewashed Love", but it is on the Birth Pangs CD.
Other than for one new song, I don't think Mike Lee has been making any new Barren Cross songs lately.

Yeah, but they were supposed to start working on a new album after they released Birth Pangs...
it just never happened
They even sent out ecards with them singing Christmas songs each of the last 2 years via Jib Jab

Re: Barren Cross
I forgot how good the Hotter Than Hell concert CD was from Barren Cross.
I am definitely hearing that Iron Maiden sound in this band on this concert CD.
I wish that Barren Cross had more concerts CDs other than this one.

Re: Barren Cross
I have no faith whatsoever there will ever be new Barren Cross music released. It's been rumored for 6 years that they were planning to do a new CD.
Love BC, but I've had to, "Let it go, let it die" when it comes to a new album.

They do! It's called Birth Pangs - a double disc recorded at a festival in Europe a few years ago. It has songs from all four albums (not just the two on Hotter than Hell), some very old demo stuff and the above-mentioned new song "Whitewashed Love."
Christian Metal Distro has it:

Re: Barren Cross
I have all the Barren Cross CDs. For me State of Control is their best one. I have Birth Pangs and although the packaging is good and had several of their good songs the sound quality is lacking. If they come out with a new album I wouldn't expect it any time soon.

Re: Barren Cross
Soldier777,
When it first came out, I got reprimanded by Mike Lee / Drive in an email for me saying that the sound on Birth Pangs had noticeable problems when using headphones. Lol
