I don't have time to listen to this too carefully, but it sounds right on. We Christians sometimes try to find our identity in our respective culture and not in Christ. Thanks for sharing!

Re: ..good stuff...from Lecrae
It was once said by a certain person that "We Christians sometimes try to find our identity in our respective culture and not in Christ."
I think this is true.
And this is what bugs me when people are so eager to accept celebrities as deep Bible teachers.
If a person's only reason for liking the sermon is because they like his music, I would consider that the same as trying to find your identity in your respective culture.
I can't even begin to tell you how I feel when I see people being so eager to accept the Duck Dynasty dudes as deep philosophical/Biblical teachers.
When people are more concerned with fashion than faith, something is wrong.

I just finished the video. Very good message. Not only can he spit, but he can preach too.sentient 6 wrote:vid

I haven't watched this yet, but other things I have heard from Lecrae have given me a high degree of respect for him in spite of his Reformed leanings (sorry, couldn't help it.)

Hopefully, if there is good theology/sound messages in the persons lyrics, that will come out in their sermons as well. One usually corresponds to the other. lecrae, for example is a good example of that I think.

Its ok that you couldn't help the fact that you haven't watched it yet ( that's what you meant...right ? ).

It's good to look on the bright side.
I'm just disturbed by what many celebrities do with the pulpit.

Here's another one that I found very interesting. I'm still thinking about it so I don't have a comment.

Lecrae actually is one of the few rappers I actually can tolerate. Aside from that Lank is fun
Re: ..good stuff...from Lecrae
If people don't know God, and want to know Him more, Will these sermons help?
What about those who DON'T know God, and have a warped sense of who God is?
Will these sermons help them, or will it encourage them to continue on in their "generic" view of God?
Or...is it that one has to be "in tune" with a certain fad/fashion/culture in order to understand?
I'm trying to listen to these sermons, but the word "God" keeps coming across as some generic/generalized term for something.

If you want, go ahead and address the substance of the message of any of the videos. I am really not sure what your reservations are all about.

It was just a thought I had while trying to listen.
I'll go back and listen again when I have time.

Re: ..good stuff...from Lecrae
From the comments I take it the video was not of one of his songs? I cant see the video at work so I assumed we were talking about his music.

Naw, he was preachin'....you should watch them if you get a chance.
If you are familar with his lyrics, his sermons don't deviate too far from those.
