I was on vacation last week and picked up a few things, some Blue Oyster Cult, Alicia Keys. BUT... I found a really nice copy of Queensryche's first album on vinyl! Made my week.

I liked their first one. It had some highlights (Silent Desire, Road to the Paradise), but felt a bit same-y in mood overall. This new one is above expectations; way more consistent, more experimental and great songs. The Final Victory is a great happy metal anthem, one of the kind I've been waiting for years for a christian band to record such a song.

Right on.  I really enjoy their first album quite a bit, but I agree: the new one is a definite improvement.  They played a lot of songs from it when I got to see them live in Slovakia and they did a fantastic job.
