Candlemass
Used to be my favorite band, but haven't really cared for much since the one reunion album with Messiah...

That was a good video, pretty much agree with him. I was initially optimistic at the return of the original singer, but his vocals have not aged well.

I would have preferred that they would have brought back Thomas Vikstrom, "Chapter VI" was a very good album! Who here remembers this...

I used to have that CD and I thought it was very good. Actually liked it better than many of their other albums.Pro-Zak wrote:I would have preferred that they would have brought back Thomas Vikstrom, "Chapter VI" was a very good album! Who here remembers this...
I had found it in a cut-out bin at Tower Records (anyone here remember Tower?) for some ridiculously low price.

We covered Through the Infinitive Halls of Death at our most recent show.
We used to cover Demons Gate when we first formed too.

I loved Rob Lowe in Solitude Aertunus, as well as in that one Last Chapter album, but I wan not at all on board with him joining Candlemass. I know it seemed like a likely fit, but it just didn't work for me.

Re: Candlemass
This is another really good song (musically) from Candlemass that has nothing to do with Messiah:
Re: Candlemass
Eh, not bad, but doesn't exactly thrill me either, not even with the Iommi solo.

Might be the best latter day Candlemass album, the Hammond sound is a nice touch...

Re: Candlemass
I was on the Candlemass message board around this time, there was a poll up to vote on album titles for this one. Initially to be titled "Hammer of Doom", but that fest had just started so they thought it a bad idea, it was an even better idea! This I said was too much like the Metallica title, plus it was laughably cheesy!

I like Lowe, my favorite is King Of The Grey Islands with him. And I enjoy the Vikstrom album, little less doomy but a good album.

Re: Candlemass
I don't know, but it seems to me that the latter Candlemass albums are just trying to be as heavy and doomy as possible, and not as concerned with crafting great songs and albums. As much as I love the self titled album, it kinda started there with a few tracks, especially the instrumentals...

Re: Candlemass
I don't like the later Candlmass albums or singers either. Just not a great fit and the songs aren't there.
Loved Chapter VI though!

I wish we had a recording from our last show but no.
I do have a dvd somewhere of our first show where we played almost all covers, including demons gate.

One of the greatest Metal bands of all-time that released one of the greatest Metal albums of all-time (pert near 4-5 of them really).
