“Story song” recommendations

Some of my favorite metal songs are those that tell stories. However, I only know a fairly small number of such songs, including Mirror of Souls, Sonata Arctica’s White Pearl Black Oceans, and Xandria’s A Theater of Dimensions. Any recommendations for more “story songs”? I know quite a few more concept albums that tell a story through the entire album, but I’m looking for individual songs

Idk... I have some that aren't released yet, but that doesn't really help you yet lol.

Mercyful Fate comes to mind. That's pretty much all they do. Each song is its own horror story. Don't know how you'd feel about some of their lyrics though. 

There are tons of metal bands with songs that tell stories. I'd be here all day long listing them.

Maybe some of the others here have some good suggestions.

Yeah that band is definitely over the line for me when it comes to lyrics

Sabaton, obviously.

Saxon has some good ones.
Rush does, as well.

One of the best songs by a hair metal band ever (although I don’t care for much else by Warrant)

King Diamond has many spooky story songs that are fun to listen to. I can’t pick a favorite.

Disciples of the Watch by Testament is directly inspired by Children of the Corn.

Operation Mindcrime by Queensryche. The whole album is a concept story.

Fearless Undead Machines by Deceased. A concept album about Zombies.

Iron Maiden and Erasmus both did epic jobs of telling The Rime Of The Ancient Mariner.  (Erasmus' version is titled Sanguinus Nocturnus.)
