First off, how did I get this dadgum old? Second, their last great album all the way through.

Hysteria is better.
Great album, though. Some of my favorite Lep tunes are on this one.

Hysteria is good but has some filler.

I like every song on it—just not all the lyrics.
High and Dry is also top-notch.
Really I like everything through RetroActive. After that I jump off the Lep train. (They still bring it live, though).

High and Dry is equal to Pyromania imo. The glossy production hurts Hysteria.

After High & Dry, Pyromania was sort of a letdown at first.
But they played the songs on the radio a lot and it grew on me.
"Too Late For Love" and "Foolin'" sound like they could have been on High & Dry.
The rest ranges from filler to really good.

Too Late for Love is a great song, and Rock of Ages would have been if not for the semi-blasphemous lyrics

How is Rock of Ages blasphemous?

Idk if “blasphemous” is the right word, but certainly irreverent. Deliberately using language associated with describing God to describe themselves and their music (like “we got the power, we got the glory” and the phrase “rock of ages” itself are definitely meant to bring to mind language used to describe God)

Maybe I’m looking into it too much, but those lyrics always rubbed me the wrong way

They were recording in a Church and saw the title in a hymnal and thought it would be cool. Maybe irreverent but thinking they used power and glory to co op language used for God? Lots of bands use that language.
