Only the debut...

I can't sleep.
Are there any instances where you like a band's debut, but not the rest of their work?
and/or
Are there any instances where you like everything by a band except their debut?
Band/artist must have at least 3 studio albums.
Christian or secular.

Vials of Wrath is the only one I can think of. I haven't listened to Seeking Refuge (his debut) in a long time, but last I remember, I found it kinda boring. I like the other albums.

Stairway - I love No Rest No Mercy, but I don’t care for anything else I’ve heard by them.
Firewind - I like a couple of other albums, a little bit, but I far prefer their debut over everything else they’ve done, and it’s not even close.

One of the greatest debuts ever. Definitely their best. I really like their 2nd and 3rd albums too though. After that, it's hit & miss.

I’m a big Rush fan, but outside of “Working Man” I’ve never been big on the debut.

Agree. Shame egos get in the way. Amy and Ben were made to make music together and Evanescence, though still have great albums, never made another quite like their debut .Superjuice wrote:Evanescence.

Pearl Jam. Really like the debut. Could not get into anything else they did after that.
Would also agree about Evanescence, and to a large extent, Living Sacrifice and Vengeance Rising.
The band Halloween, I only like the 1st album.
There are a few other bands where I never liked much beyond the debut but I've learned to like some of the latter material (e.g. Leviticus, Liege Lord, Boston, Griffin - although they only have 2 albums).
I think there's only one band in all my listening history where I like all 3 of their albums more or less equally - a band called Everthrone.

I liked the first 2 Pearl Jam albums pretty well. Lost interest in them after that. Their music didn't keep my attention like some of the other bands coming up in that time period.
