Any fans? Admittedly, their lyrics often range from stupidly silly (Save Us Now) to just stupid (Lavatory Love Machine). But they’ve got some killer tunes. I really like Theater of Salvation, Mandrake, and Hellfire Club, although Vain Glory Opera is good too. Starting on Hellfire Club I feel like they went downhill lyrically and as they continued this slide, while also leaving the power metal behind, I lost interest.

Anyone else enjoy them? Favorite songs/albums?

Mandrake and Hellfire Club are good listens. Feel like Avantasia is consistently better.

Mandrake and Hellfire Club are pretty much the peak Edguy albums. You could already notice the tipping point in the latter towards a sound that's a more hard rock leaning though. There's still plenty to love after that but I still prefer old Edguy's grandiosity over new Edguy's light heartedness. I still love Space Police though, and I can't shake the feeling that the chorus of Theocracy's Easter is heavily inspired by The Realms of Baba Yaga from that album.

Some favorite songs in chronological album order: Vain Glory Opera, Land of the Miracle, Mandrake, The Pharaoh, Mysteria, The Piper Never Dies, Sacrifice, Trinidad, Robin Hood, The Realms of Baba Yaga, The Eternal Wayfarer

I like them. When they're good they're great.

Avantasia is better.
