Also Gospod though IIRC the main guy behind the band is not religious; all the Orthodox elements come from the singer who I got the impression is more of a studio vocalist than fulltime member, but someone should fact-check me on that.

I got the impression that Batushka is in it just for the aesthetics.  Some of their other lyrics were quite anti-Christian I believe.  (That being said, which Batushka do you mean?   )  I see the draw towards Eastern/Russian Orthodox for metalheads, as the aesthetics and tendencies towards mysticism do have some overlap with that of metal culture.

We live in a modern world, and this project has a soul, and as many have noticed, in its own way "God-pleasing".
As far as religious practice and worldview are concerned, George is close to the Pomeranian accord of the Ancient Orthodox Church (Old Belief). This is due to certain circumstances, as he lives abroad, far from the settlement.
He has recently engaged in icon painting. Work and participation in this project pushed him, and one may say inspired him to study Icon Painting.
I suppose everyone will also be interested in how we started our joint activities with George?
God works in mysterious ways. The acquaintance occurred in the summer of 2020. One of the communities advised George to listen to several compositions, and he immediately liked the sound. After that he wrote to me and we immediately got along.
As for me, I'm not a church person, I'm just a musician. Yet, I was moved by the Lord to do such work, albeit in such a specific way. My work resonated with George in his soul and he began to guide me little by little, since he sincerely wanted the project to become as close as possible to the canon, to the church. I also follow George's instructions, he follows my ideas, and we are both moving in the same direction.
