Any Christian metal songs about Christ’s descent into Hades?

Happy Holy Saturday! I have only recently been made aware that we Christians can celebrate that Jesus Christ, after his death on Good Friday, descended to Hades (Acts 2:24-31; Ephesians 4:9-10; 1 Peter 3:18-19). The Bible indicates Jesus did much while in Hades, preaching, opening the gates of Hades, breaking from from Death’s shackles, etc. I don’t want to make this a theological discussion, but for those of us who take that line in the Apostles’ Creed seriously, it is quite the event.

As I pondered these things today, I realized something shocking. This is probably the most “metal” event described in the Bible, and I can’t think of a single Christian metal song about it! Sure, there are passing lines about it in the context of explaining Christ’s resurrection (take for example “The Messiah” by Bloodgood), but can’t think of a whole song about it or even primarily about it. Have you guys heard any?

I mention it on our upcoming album but its not the whole song.

Hard to say much about it because its not completely understood or elaborated upon.

the hebrew word is "sheol". We wrote a song called "the gorge of Liwija" and the lyrics deal with Matthew 12,40.

Friday, I checked out those scriptures you mention above. Acts 2:24-31; Ephesians 4:9-10; 1 Peter 3:18-19 do not talk about hades or hell as a place that existed in Jesus time or now. Curious what version of the bible you are using???

Hi oldschooldoom, don´t want to turn this into a theological thread but just want to make a short notice.
I use the original ancient greec New Testament (not a translated version) and am able to read and translate.

Acts 2:24-31 uses litterally the word "hades". The greek speaking Jews (and early christians) used the word "hades" for the hebrew word "sheol" in the scriptures of the Old Testament. It is often translated as "underworld" or "place of the dead".
The word "hades" was very common at those times Jesus lived.
The word hell does not exist in the original hebrew or greec texts.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I have a question for Cailen about the meaning of Gorge of Liwija (which is an amazing song btw). I have always wondered what the “gorge of Liwija” referred to in the song, from the context it appears to refer to Sheol/Hades where Jesus went, and/or to the belly of the fish where Jonah was. But what does the word mean? When I Google search “Liwija” the only result is this song and someone’s name.
