BLACK LEATHER - Blackened Speed / Crust / Thrash Metal New Album

I keep my eye on this band and they've delivered their best release yet.  

Called "Ride Over Death," the lyrics are allegorical, sort of how Morgarten and Dawnbreaker do it.

Musically there is a lot of Motorhead-meets-Judas Priest riffs, mixed with speed metal, black metal, and a crust-punk vibe.
Some songs are really good, others are more pedestrian.  Production a bit rough but it adds to the charm.  Worth checking out.

Pretty good, they mix it up enough to be interesting and some definite Priest vibes. Nice find.

I really liked The New Liberty and State of Freedom. I was excited for this but really like physical media. Hopefully he's going to eventually get these out on CD. I'll grab it ASAP.

Finally got my physical CD from the band. I had to sign for the package actually! 

This is fantastic! Definitely his best yet. Production has been stepped up just like his last few albums, songs are top notch and I've appreciated the lead work on some of his recent albums. This is also my favorite project from Zvi (also does Anima Mortuum, Diamoth, Reminiscent). Definitely going to be blasting this through the summer.

The only thing that really stinks is he posted on Facebook he was going to quit all these projects after not really getting support to finance the musical output he's invested in. I hope he reconsiders that in time.

^That is sad news indeed!  His other projects are not particularly my style... but I really dig Reminiscent and would love to hear more from that project!

^ That is a shame.  Maybe he'll reconsider in the future.  It's really tough to get noticed these days in the sea of so many bands and releases.   I want to eventually do some recording and I realize that if I get five people to listen to it that's probably going to be a good number.  It's just hard out there with so many new things competing for our time and attention..

I really like Anima Mortuum's "The Return" but found the subsequent releases to be a step down, although "Goat Destruction" was probably the best of the later albums.  But this new Black Leather was a very pleasant surprise and deserves more listeners.

As for future projects, Zvi said he would focus on another new band that wouldn't have the bold straight forward lyrics but would be more poetic, philosophical while retaining his faith within it. To my knowledge that band's name and style haven't been revealed yet.
