Second Chance - Dear God (1996 album/demo)
Over 7 years ago, past Driven posted in CHM about some obsure Christian rock CD he'd found: https://christianhardmusic.niceboard.com/t6167-second-chance-dear-god
In those 7 years, he's researched this album online to no avail and learned many essential skills, among them not writing in the third person.
Now, I've finally taken the time to upload this oddity to YouTube for archival purposes:
My thoughts, and several others', can be found on the CHM thread linked above. Essentially, I'm having trouble pinning a genre to it, but it's some sort of grungy rock. The production and recording is okay, the vocals are kind of grating, the songwriting is really unrefined. I mean this as no slight to the band, as I'm sure they would've improved as songwriters after this record, but the album really lacks energy.
As an aside, because of the YouTube video, searching "second chance dear god" on Google finally points to this album. Maybe a band member will search for it someday and find that someone has discovered their 25-year-old demo...
If you want a download of it, let me know and I might be bothered to upload it somewhere if there's enough interest. Otherwise, enjoy the video.

Why are you so focused on this album when you seem to not like it very much?

I'm still trying to figure that out myself! lol. Historical interest, as well as the fact I can hear some potential for the band. How did a band from California release a full album only to completely disappear (even from the internet), and why did one of their CDs end up in small town Eastern Canada? I don't know about that last bit, but I'm curious about the rest.
I've managed to make contact with one of the band members, who's mentioned that they used to open for P.O.D., Switchfoot among others. They also had a song (Shades of Gray) on the radio for a bit. They were reportedly slated to tour with the Newsboys but that fell through as the band broke up. They're now a bit all over the place in terms of career.
So to answer your question, probably because I like a good story about a small band. To quote the band member I contacted, "God used a bunch of lost souls to reach lost souls. And for that I am grateful"
