Samael. Any fans here? Empty Samael. Any fans here?

So, is anyone here a fan at all of industrial extreme metal(originally black metal) band Samael?
I only own 4 of their albums, and one ep(Ceremony of opposites/Rebellion-ep-, Passage, Eternal, Solar Soul).
I love their upbeat music now(but of course their darker heavier early sound too). What I really enjoy about this band is that they are very much about unification of opposites in a very brilliantly philosophical way, but also that since Passage there is a clear escalation on their albums to focus a bit more on *positive* values like love, light, liberty, life, justice, but still also a balance or unification of opposites with a bit of the other side too...finding a balance, something that really sets them apart from most if not all other BM and extreme metal bands(there are a few others that do this to, but not as consistently or in quite the same way as they do). Theres also a positivity or divinity to the way they play/compose their music.
Always very thought provoking. Deeply philosophical. With a interesting marriage of enlightenment principles and gnostic intuitions and mystico-spiritual values.

I don't always agree with them in all their views(though I often do), but they always provoke thought, and I very much appreciate their unification of opposites philosophy, and their being the only BM derived band that gives the light, life, love values their due.(certainly not the only one with strong focus on liberty of course).

Anyways.

Could never get into Samael when I first heard them in the early 90's.  I liked some of their contemporaries better, like Crematory, Tiamat, Sentenced, Therion, Moonspell, Grave, etc. and just never looked back.

Have you heard only their early stuff? Or have you also heard their stuff post *ceremony of opposites*, from *passage* onward?
Their early stuff was darker and closer to traditional doom black. But they expanded their sound ....and their philosophy along since then. Even did that industrial album *eternal*.
Though they've also always had a pop feel to their extreme metal, short songs....well arranged in verse chorus verse way.
I just love that they're like the only BM or BM born band in extreme metal that focus alot on philosophical subject matter that most BM bands are the opposite of, yet none of the latter can condemn or deny Samaels importance ...since they were one of the earliest 2nd wave BM legends.
They are very deep philosophically, they're juxtapositioning of opposites in unity is brilliant.
And also...they have undeniably catchy tunes.

Very unique, no one quite like them.

Just their early stuff if I remember correctly.   If you name an album or a few songs that you would recommend, I will give them another listen.

Check out *eternal*, *solar soul*, and *passage*. The first one on that list is much more an industrial experimental album. But the other two are more metal, Passage(which was after their first few albums which you are probably familiar with)was the album which really decided the direction they'd take for most of their career since, Solar soul us a great example of what they've become.

I'm not sure if you ever listened to Ceremony of opposites, its their 3rd album. You said you remember their early stuff well only, im not sure if that includes this one or just their first two albums(*worship him* and *blood ritual*)...which were pretty much just BM. Ceremony was still BM but a little more than straightforward BM. From that album, when they were still relatively dark(before their philosophy direction and sound direction changed to what it is in the above videos I shared which they are today) the song *ceremony of opposites* off that 3rd album of the same name.
