New H.E.A.T
Oh yeah!!!! If the rest of the new album sounds half as good as this track, I’ll be all over it! The lead solo towards the end is absolutely smoking!

You gotta add Steel Panther to that list.
Re: New H.E.A.T
FOJ, that sounds amazing! The vocalist reminds me a tad of the singer for Tesla. However, this has a lot more drive than the newer Tesla albums. I will definitely check out this band as well as Wildworld's suggestions.

Good song. The only problem I have with all the bands listed is the paint by numbers sound they fall into, hard to tell them apart at times.

Steel Panther are a little too crude even for me, but I love their cover of "Fantasy":
More on the AOR side but there's also Brother Firetribe:

Re: New H.E.A.T
They have released four tracks from the new H.E.A.T and, seriously, all four are incredible!! Whichever the last one was that I listened to gets stuck in the brain.
I know a lot of the glam/hair/sleaze stuff from Scandinavia sounds the same. I don’t get into most of it because it all does start to sound the same. But sometimes something stands up and deserves more attention. The band Confess is a good example (who have a new album dropping 2/28). This new album by H.E.A.T is another example. The first four songs IMHO, are not paint by numbers at all.
I can’t wait till Friday when the whole album drops.

I think part of it is the production, way too slick a lot of times and kind of flattens the sound. I like some of it then it just becomes background noise.

Re: New H.E.A.T
Yeah, so never mind this new album. The four songs they pre-released were the best ones. Not only is the rest of the album a noticeable step down from those, there are a couple of songs with questionable lyrics including one that is a giant middle finger to the Lord Almighty. (Why are Scandinavian bands so anti-Christian?) I'm bummed. I still love these four songs and I'll enjoy them, but I had been so excited for the rest of the album.

I have that problem with a lot of newer bands. We all moved over to computer recording, so we use a lot of the same guitar sounds, drum sounds, etc. to record with. Gone are the days when you could hear a new song and tell who the band was just by the unique guitar tone. Guitar guys now just want a big fat sound like they had in the studio. They used to want a unique tone so that everyone knew who was playing.
Also, so much of drumming now is overplaying and adding double bass as much as possible. Drummers are no longer unique, either.
Bass players have also become more technical so that they too lose their uniqueness of sound/style.
Face it--we've heard it all and eventually it becomes paint by numbers because we want to repeat what was successful at one time.

Thanks for the heads up FOJ, sad to hear that but not surprising. The world is moving towards hating God and Christianity it seems.
I agree Chris, I loved when bands were known for tone and the sound had personality.

Is it just me or does anyone else think they should have named this album 'HOTTER'. Dad jokes rule!
