Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
For those looking for something new in the Death Metal realm, i recently stumbled across Demonic Extinction.
This is hard rocking old school death metal at it's best. The vocals have more of a barking growl and are quite discernible for the most part, rather than the gargle/vomit vocals of most modern death metal/slam bands.
They have an EP called Satanicide available for free download off their bandcamp and the entire EP is streamable on youtube:

Too much drama from this band for me... But folks might be interested in the continuation band Extinction Of Baal after the split with the vocalist.

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
It's all over FB... As I recall, their singer Richard was blasting Duane of Vision Of God Records over something dumb and was allegedly ripping people off of merch/music. There were a handful of nasty rants from him too. He got kicked out of the band but kept the name and released the EP digitally while the other band members continued under the Extinction Of Baal name. They made some long posts on their FB about it. If you scroll down a little on the link I posted above, you'll be able to find more. Something along those lines anyways.

Having a brief read through the banter and without knowing either party or having any first hand knowledge on what happened, it's one word against another.
I will leave the controversy to the parties involved to sort out between each other and God and will just enjoy this EP for what it is, as it is an awesome slab of old school DM, but with modern freshness. It's so rare to find an underground release with such quality production and musicianship.

Richard is bad news and not at all what he claims to be.

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
Stumbled across this album a week ago. Definitely rekindled my interest in Christian metal and had an overwhelmingly positive effect on my faith as well. Sorry to learn it was released under such awful circumstances but I think our ears are all better for having heard it.
Hopefully the chance to support EoB will come soon.

I was just recommended this!
Finally a high quality Christian Death Metal album (they are hard to find nowadays). And the vocalist has a great death grunt. They only have one album… hopefully they’ll do another!

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
Satanicide; Deicide
Kill Satan. Kill God. Even the logo in the music vid and the art is ripped off from Deicide. These guys wanna be deicide hard!
Probably shouldn't say this on a christian site, but Deicide's first two albums, S/T and Legion are two of the best ever made in death metal: Lunatic of God's creation, dead but dreaming, dead by dawn, Satan spawn the caco-daemon, you kidding- classics "Musical" speaking despite the lyrics and all... so it's no wonder these guys wanna mimic them.
Guess that's why I love Scrolls. Scrolls stood on it's own two feet and held it's own with all those secular metal bands.

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
It’s not like the wheel can be reinvented. It’s well known that Christian metal is almost always an “alternative” or clone to a secular style.
Tourniquet is probably one of the only Christian bands that have noticeable originality (and even they have some obvious influences).
You have a point about Mortification/Scrolls. I never heard another extreme band that had the same guitar tone and style as Mick Carlisle.

Okay, Lol.BaleMaster wrote:Throw Saviour Machine in the originality camp.
I could name quite a few original christian bands I'd be proud of if I was a christian. But that's another thread long lost in the mists of time, smouldering in the dust of years... I am also seeing these bands from a different POV than most here too I imagine. It's like those God and Mose's t shirts- just utterly laughable (IMO).

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
Doesn't really sound like Deicide though, except it's old school sounding DM. Funny how much we bash christian metal for sounding like it's influences while secular music does the same thing. There are probably 25 bands right now that sound like AC/DC.

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
Not exactly a Christian band, but King's X wins huge points for originality, and many a band claims they were a big influence.
I also have never heard a secular band that sounded quite like Extol, Kohllapse (especially that 2nd album), Angel 7, Illuminandi, and as BaleMaster mentioned, Saviour Machine.
Meanwhile, thousands of secular bands copy everyone from Metallica and Pantera to G 'N R and Poison to Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and no one bats an eyelash.
But who knows, maybe I just don't get out enough...

A lot of times, people think a band sounds like another because of the vocalist. But sometimes the actual music isn’t that much like the other band. A great example is Barren Cross. Mike sounds a lot like Bruce from Maiden, but BC’s songwriting isn’t all that Maiden-like.

I always thought of Savior Machine as a Christian alternative to the Bowie influenced goth-rock like Bauhaus/Peter Murphy. But yeah, I haven’t heard another band exactly the same. The closest thing to Savior Machine is some of Jimmy P. Brown’s Learn era and other assorted songs (but mostly just the Bowie style singing).

I agree on both points!
Except I’m not bashing Christian metal when I compare. I just state the obvious (and some Christian record labels even had stickers saying: “for fans of…” (insert a list of secular bands).
But you are 100% correct about the AC/DC thing!

Yeah, Christian labels did that but I remember seeing secular bands marketed the same way. I remember Cinderella was marketed if you liked Warrant or Bon Jovi, it's just a marketing tool.

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
Not that any of this matters in the big scheme of things, but I agree with Barren Cross. Apart from the vocals they I have never thought they really sounded like Maiden, even if I have given them a little stick for kicks and giggles. Enjoy whatever we enjoy should be the only rule!Pethead wrote:A lot of times, people think a band sounds like another because of the vocalist. I have come to the conclusion that indeed, christian metal is for Christians... (Mr Obvious)

Re: Demonic Extinction (Death Metal)
I'm in a metal/deathcore group and a death metal group and the Christian bands get lots of respect. For many, if it's good music they don't give a crap what they sing about.

I also have seen many non-Christian who enjoy high-quality Christian metal.
So saying Christian metal is only for Christians is limiting its power and influence.
