But as per the sociopolitical discussion we were having...in regards that Detritus songs subject matter...i assume we can continue that here(i won't...unless others continue it first)!
If not, maybe we can continue it in the general discussions area.
Cool?

Oooohh man. Seventh Angel's *the torment*, can I just say....pure frickin brilliance. One of the best thrash albums I've ever heard secular or Christian.
Been looking for another copy for years since I got rid of my Christian metal collection when I first apostasized and over-reacted against(lol!)
Absolutely smokin album(and cool album art). Legends!

I did the same thing too,--idiot right! I wish I had kept quite a number of those albums as they're hard to get, including torment* Thankfully I have lament and the dust of years though!Contrarian Deist wrote:Dustofyears wrote:I loved the Rodney Matthews cover art, as so done with seventh Angel* I always liked Seventh more than Detritus though, not that Detritus were bad at all, in fact, quite good thrash with a pretty unique spin on the thrash sound, which is what I liked about them and Seventh Angel*

Lol! I did the same with my *secular* metal collection when I became a born againer actually. I was raised Christian and was such until my mid-late teens, during age 10 to 16/17 I got into metal(just regular metal , thrash, death) while I was technically *Christian*, but at age 16 or 17 I did a hardcore born againer evangelical thing and at the urging of my youth pastor I burned my entire collection at a youth group bonfire(days beforehand at youth group I asked for prayer for my family financially ace were poor living in a trailer house, and my youth pastor told me that if I promised to get rid of my collection by burning it at a youth group bonfire a few days later god would bless my family financially, I enthusiastically agreed)..the next day my parents received a couple hundred dollars cheque in the mail(with no indication of the individual who sent it) so a couple days later at the youth group bonfire I brought my entire collection and tossed it in the fire, lol! Hundreds if not thousands dollars and several years down the tube in seconds. The next day after that another cheque arrived.
Obviously from my church or someone affiliated with it.
Then at 25 when I left the faith another over-reaction, I sent my entire Christian metal collection(thousands of dollars and almost a decade down the tube) to a friend living in a different province(he used to live in my prov and city and we were friends from then)...he wasn't Christian, but I knew he liked a few of the Christian metal albums I had(not many but a few) so I mailed IT ALL to him. A few weeks later he moved back to my city/prov and he left IT ALL in his apt there, have no clue what became of it.
Lesson. Don't over-react and don't throw away years and years of money and collecting in a fit of over-zealousness.
Anyways it's taken me 15 years to build up my former *secular* collection(but also many more than I had as a kid), and if it was affordable, feasible, and easier I'd build up my Christian collection again too(I have managed to get several in these years, but not many).
Lol!

Hmmmmm.
Perpetual defiance had a Testament feel/sound.
Maybe this new era is going in a Voivod direction?

Vinyl Pre orders are up
Do have a 57 second teaser you can listen to. It's definitely an extension and progression from If But For One

Thanks for the update, Mothy...this is great news...I’m hoping it’s not too far off their earlier thrash sound...my favorite was Perpetual Defiance. I’d be ok with a modern sound but it’s gotta sound somewhat like their older stuff.mothy wrote:Vinyl pre orders for the new album Myths available now. They

BaleMaster wrote:Whenever I hear the term "intolerant," my hackles go up.
LoL!
Me too.
Although, we should not mistake the valid, reasonable idea of and objective definition, of, or applications of *tolerance* and *intolerant* with what the SJWs orwellian newspeak, doublethink, double standarded and hypocritical redefinition and misapplication of the terms.
Tolerance(*to tolerate*..not neccaserily to *100% agree...or else*) is a good idea, intolerance(to not tolerate, as opposed to tolerate but disagree) is a negative thing.
But yeah I feel ya. Its become a pretty Orwellian buzzword of utter hypocrisy in our popular culture and establishment in recent years. Just like anti-racist and anti-sexist and homophobic(by which THEY mean anti white and anti-male and anti-hero cisgendered...and patronizing fetishizing and infantilization of and soft bigotry of low expectations towards/in regards or saintification of...nonwhites and females and homosexuals, etc) and other *(fill in the gap) aphobias* and so on.
But those terms and concepts aren't bad just because they've stretched their meanings and redefined or inverted them or hypocritically double standard apply them

Read my above response.
I doubt they are suggesting the SJWs ideas of these terms.

Re: DETRITUS
I agree with Black Rider and others that I would like to see lyrics.
I can't detect much specific Christian content after listening to this, but if we had lyrics we could at least see what angle they are coming from.
I also agree with Kerrick, TOB and others that we should stick to a music discussion here and not get tangled in the weeds.
There is a place for the weeds, just not in this thread. Thank you.
