Red Gofundme - 100k Gofundme

I haven't really listened to Red since "Release the Panic". I loved what they did, but it seemed like it was just the same music being recorded. I'd still go see them live, as they put on a great show. Recently I saw that they released a video stating that they were going out on their own. I watched some of the video, and then turned it off not paying attention to the rest. Then I saw today that they are asking for $100k! They have 45k. But, you get absolutely NOTHING for your money? What? I have no problem with bands getting funded by fans for their albums, and I understand the fees that some of them ask. Usually they put out a solid well recorded album. But this seems ridiculous to me.

Bands have done albums on about 1/5 of that. Are they using gold plated mics?

Part of me (a large part, actually) agrees with you.....and I won't give to it because I am not a fan anyway....but

As many dumb GoFundMe campaigns that I have seen, with people asking (and getting) money for stuff like Disney vacations or going to sporting events, this really doesn't surprise me

Yeah, my assumption is that it is going to more than just a record. Maybe a few.

My problem was with just handing over that amount for nothing in return. Is Red a great band? Yes. Do they put out solid material? Yes. Do they work their butts off? Definitely. It's just something I wouldn't give to.

Ummm, I wouldn't contribute to that pledge for any band....or anything.

It's not specific how many more years of red you're even getting.

No rewards built into a pledge drive?  No guarantee of a CD or download?  They can keep it.  

But, I am not much of a fan anymore.  All their albums sound the same.  When I've seen them live twice, the sound was so muddy that you couldn't hear the singer at all making all their show seem like one plodding song.
