Fast to slow, brutal to calm, loud to quiet
We are all aware of rock and metal musicians taking hymns and other non-rock songs and turning them into rock and metal versions. Has anyone seen the opposite? Has anyone ever taken fast, loud, or brutal songs and remade them into hymns or soft songs? I'm not talking about acoustic versions of these songs performed by the very artists that created them, but rather a different artist re-imagining metal songs as soft or light music.

Not Christian, but these:
The Cardigans used to do a light and airy acoustic pop version of a metal song on every album back in the 90s. Black Sabbath, Slayer, etc.
TONY NAIMA & THE BITTERS did an all-acoustic country-ish album of Dismember (death metal) songs.
HELLSONGS does very pretty acoustic slow versions of metal songs, with female vocals. Highly recommended!

There was a lounge version of a cannibal corpse song floating around you tube a couple of years ago, it was done as a parody to highlight how ridiculous they are. It worked. I won't link it as its, well a CC song with the lyrics sung plainly where you can understand. Should be easy enough to youtube for anyone interested.

I was going to post Hellsongs but figured Adam might be after faith based songs. I can't think of any christian artists who have done the same.

That Boone's version of "Holy Diver" sounds pretty good. It's nice to hear an different approach

Anyone else think that the Holy Diver cover kind of sounds like the theme of a 70s cop show (and the intro could fit in a Western easily)?
