Feel like giving up
I work as a youth pastor and have never felt so discouraged in my life. I feel like giving up. My prayers seem to go unanswered and I am at my wit's end. Please pray. I won't do this much longer without a word from God.
Re: Feel like giving up
Will pray for you, buddy. My father worked as a pastor for 20 years, so I've seen that situation a bunch of times. And I know it's not an easy burden to bear.

Hey man, I know it's difficult beyond words. My Dad is an evangelist, and has been sense I was very young. There were times, especially these last few years, that have really taken a toll on me. From the time I was 7 until about 11 years old I was tormented by demons, until God delivered me. My Mother has always been very sickly, and has always seemed to get worse with a sickness that specialists cannot diagnose. It's been very hard on her with the death of her parents just a few short years in-between. The last few years has been especially difficult for me, and even though demons don't torment me like they used to, they taunt me instead in a very cruel manner.
But there's something I've learned over the years. Is that God is always there to be my Refuge. Many times I would feel like not living anymore, and Jesus is always right there running toward me saying in a desperate cry for my safety "I'm here! I'm here! Your safe now.." When darkness surrounds me, as soon as I begin crying out to God I always feel a presence rip the darkness out from around me. He cries when I cry, He hurts when I hurt. I wouldn't trade my relasionship with Him for all of the wealth and power in all of existance. He's always there for me, and He has never left me. I have failed Him countless times, but He has never failed me. He turns every negative event around for our good. What we see with our eyes doesn't make sense with what God has told us, but His work is all the same.
Greatness comes to those who never give up. Those who live by His Spirit are in His perfect will. My Mother was on the verge of suicide after losing custody of me when I was 4 years old due to drugs, crystal meth. But when she felt an all too familiar presence enter the room, she couldn't help but break down and cry out to Jesus. She said to Him that even if she never gets her family back that she would still serve Him. And in that very moment she lost all desire for crystal meth or any other drugs. Soon after not only did she get her family back and custody of me, she also had a better relasionship with my Dad when they got remarried, and I grew closer to her than I ever had before. And her relasionship with Christ keeps getting stronger and stronger to this day. Soon after she was ministering to women in jails and prisons. Medical experts say that during the first use of crystal meth that it destroys the particular brain cells that allow people to feel joy. But let me tell you that after everything I just told you, she was and is happier and felt more joy than she ever had long before she ever used crystal meth.
Trust me when I say that the fight against the darkness you face will always be worth it and never in vain if you keep holding on to Jesus. I have been praying for you when I seen your request and I'll continue to pray for you. Never give up and God bless, you are loved never forget that.
