I've read quite a few.. when I go camping each summer I get a few from my local library.
Top choices for me so far are:
Keith Richards
Duff McKagan
Dave Mustaine

I still haven't read the Michael Sweet book, but plan to next.

I'm also interested in David Ellefson's book... anyone read this?  How good is it?

Ok.

It's a fast read, which I liked.  It's really good depending on why you want to read it.  As the title suggests it's his testimony: it's about his life leading up to his conversion.  His life as a solo artist post conversion is summarized in just a few chapters.  It's a cool story but don't expect to hear story after story of life as a professional musician: that wasn't his life.  It's about Neal Morse the person more than Neal Morse the musician.

As a pretty new fan of his, I don't have a frame of reference for many of his music stories or references.  I'm also not from southern California so some geography references were hazy (I was living here but playing at a club there).  Unlike the Michael Sweet book where I had lots of questions and interest in his life in Stryper and as a solo artist, I had no expectations for this one.

I highly recommend it if you are a fan of his or like biographical testimonies in general but like I said, don't expect much about album/song progression or touring stories, especially from his Christian years.

Next up: the Steve Rowe book.
