yoga
A local friend of mine here in Utah was explaining to me about yoga. He says that it is the most amazing way of working out, as it also helps mood disorders and depression, etc. I don't have mood disorders, but he does.
Anyway - he was saying how good it makes you feel, compared to regular working out. So I ended up getting a yoga DVD, just to try it out, rather than going to the gym.
I have to say ... after using this DVD for the past few days ... it seems he is right! I feel better than when I would do any other kind of work out. I wonder why yoga does that?
Are there any folks here into yoga? I know it seems weird, but it is becoming very popular in the USA and all over the world these days.
Any thoughts?

Re: yoga
Yoga is very calm and soothing. Even though stretching doesn't seem intense, it still gets some serotonin flowing because of that type of muscle use.
In regards to working out, I certainly feel great after rigorous lifting... but... it doesn't make me feel calm. Actually, the heavy lifting raises my testosterone which I think plays a bit of a part in some aggressive tendencies I have.

Re: yoga
I just started a couple of weeks ago.
Last week, I did 7 days in a row...just the 10 and 15 minute sessions....some 20 minute ones. I like this guy, he's not too bad to listen to:
https://www.youtube.com/user/motleyfitness
He even says, in one of his vids, that men prefer to do yoga at home and women like the classes.
So, I'm still doing the "yoga for men, beginners" stuff, but, I noticed a big difference right away. Especially in my upper back and shoulder area. I have been working out and training in similar ways, for years, and this helps stretch me in ways that I haven't been and ways I Know I need.
Even She-Who-Must-Be-Obeyed did some with me.....just-like in lamaze, we were laughing a LOT!!
