Freeware recording editing software for Windows
I have unmixed 4 track recordings from back in the day. I'd lilke to digitize and mix them.
I'm looking for freeware recording editing software for Windows. What do you guys suggest?

I haven't used it, but a lot of folks like Audacity.

Audacity is good. I use it all the time. I dont think this will apply to you but if you work on audio projects that are much over an hour it gets instable. So in that case save often. Other than that its great

If one were working with just a few minutes like a song but with multiple tracks, does Audacity work well?

Oh yeah, Audacity is probably the best free product you can use. I have Adobe Audition and I still sometimes use Audacity

I have a lot of experience using Audacity. I still use it when I want to do something quick. but I find it a crutch now because I'm trying to learn to use Reaper which is much more a professional DAW,It's just I'm so use to cutting and editing in
Audacity..
Also I noticed that Audacity sometimes would introduce this strange metallic swirling noises in a track..It could of been a phase issue as well.
And like others have stated I too have had issues with it crashing if running a long time. For converting old tracks that's not too complicated it's fine. But for something that has a lot of tracks it's not ideal.
