wish for eden - pet the fish
Like I said before, been listening to some of my older stuff that I don't spin to often. I remember picking this up cheap in a dollar bin. I feel a lot of the songs have the same vibe sound.

Used to like these guys, and the follow-up by Rob Walker. Doesn't do much for me these days. This was the very first release by Tooth 'n Nail Records. Pretty historic -- signaled the beginning of the alternative era for Christian music coinciding with grunge in the broader mainstream.

When I am in a darker mood, I pull this out along with Rob Walker, Sometime Sunday, and my Rose collection. The Wish For Eden is heavy for the type music it is with big crunchy guitars and riffs. It is also somewhat depressing in the tone of the music but not in the message. It is almost a contrast of dark & light to me.

I dig this album-- got it just over 20 years ago!
I would, however, say that taking 2, even 3 of the songs off later in the album would drastically improve it, as they end up sounding like a continuation of the same song.
That was a very exciting time indeed. I was broadening my death metal/thrash interests with stuff like this, Starflyer 59, Plank Eye, etc.

I'm listening to this album now. I believe that with better production, bands like Wish For Eden, Sometime Sunday, Leaderdogs For The Blind, Focused, Six Feet Deep, Plankeye, Grammatrain, Yonderboy. etc. could have made a much bigger splash.
They all had a good sound for the time and are still fun to listen to now and again.

That post I made here in 2015, may have been the last time I spun this. Grunge was short lived, Christian grunge was gone in the twinkling of an eye!
