Serious though, it’s actually really sad what’s happened to California. So much natural beauty there, it could have been the best state in the union if not for the way it’s run

Yes, I have friends in California and have spent time there and in Oregon and Washington.  It's all true.  
I'm also in the land of Woke insanity, but the Northeast version.   
It seems that no one got the message that we're tired of their nonsense - they're just doubling and tripling down.

Both Seattle and Portland are far-left cities with homeless junkie encampments all over the place and Governors that are pushing the same agenda as Gavin Newsom (lawlessness). 

Some other liberal hellholes are: Chicago and Minneapolis.

Yes! The landscape and scenery is beautiful here, but the people and politics destroyed the state.

There is some rural areas of California, like the outskirts of the Sierras and the desert towns. But those are somewhat occupied by weird and grumpy hillbilly types. You know… the kind that will try to shoot someone for barely getting near their property.

I like southern hospitality, but the hot and humid weather is a turn off.

Idaho is getting expensive with the influx of California folks moving there. We've looked into it but it's hard when you're established and at our age it's not easy to start everything over.

Yeah I imagine the heat down south might be as hard for northerners as the cold up north would be for me. It gets tough, but if you grow up with it you get used to it

On a purely musical level, California is a pretty important state. In metal alone it gave birth to both the hair metal scene AND the thrash metal scene (I've said that while metal may have been born in England, it was developed in California). Not to mention bands like CCR, Jefferson Airplane/Starship, Green Day, Huey Lewis and the News, Journey, Toto, Linkin Park, and many others.

And the 60's rock & hippy scene came out of LA/Laurel Canyon/San Fran (The Byrds, Love, CSN, Beach Boys, The Doors, The Eagles, Zappa, Neil Young, Grateful Dead, Mommas & the Poppas).  Then, Charles Manson, destroyed the hippy dream.

I was born 'n bred in CA but we fled in 2018 for north Idaho.  I miss the beaches, redwoods, and nice climate... but it was just getting just whacky and expensive - especially to raise a family.

On a related note, I've been to the actual Hotel California in Baja California, Mexico.  

I just know that I'm not leaving unless I absolutely have too because as much as I have problems with this place, it's where my whole life and all my friends are.

YT shortly after it came out. Recently that YT channel has released 1-2 new ones per day. They are all quite funny even though the truth is exaggerated.

Not only was I born in Cal, I have lived most of my life here. I'm a bit different when it comes to seeing this state. Last year I lived in downtown SF and then on a houseboat near the GG bridge. A couple weeks ago I drove from the top to the bottom of the state. Last Spring, I drove from the bottom to the top of the state. I have spent at least 3 months at the following places for my work: Monterey, San Jose, Santa Rosa, Oceanside, Fresno, Palo Alto, Sacramento, Loma Linda/Redlands, Orange County, Templeton, Ridgecrest, San Diego, Los Angeles, Montclair and Salinas. Can't say I would want to live anywhere else because I have been everywhere else.
