Bill Withers

My youngest child came home tonight and said "What do you think of Bill Withers?"  "I've been doing a dive on him lately"....  

He had listened to several of his hits, but, I said you Have to hear Lovely Day!  When the younger people that I work with, Patients, start requesting older tunes, and we get into an older vibe.....I slip this in and it hits home!    
 

I have to check out some of his other material.  When I picked up the guitar again after a 14-year absence, one of the first tunes I worked on was "Ain't No Sunshine."

I've heard this song before, but probably thought it was Al Jarreau.....

Reminds me of my childhood before my family was destroyed.

He actually, first, asked me if I could play any BW on guitar, and, I sadly said "No".   Need to change that.  I do play a couple classic RB songs on acoustic, but, no BW yet.  

I like some of the bass work on songs like this, but I just can't get into this.  Maybe it's just me, but this style just seems so artificially happy all the time.

He has some iconic songs. His music has been in movie soundtracks.
