Hard Christian Hip-Hop/Rap Empty Hard Christian Hip-Hop/Rap

Post by ReedBenson Mon Nov 28, 2022 1:11 pm

Long story short: I'm looking for Christian rappers who do more bangers and aren't sold out to the culture of Critical Race Theory and socialism, but also aren't so self-absorbed.

NF is my favorite rapper, but he rarely raps about God, and most of his stuff is pretty self-focused and self-aggrandizing. That bothers me.

I used to like Lecrae, Derek Minor, Beautiful Eulogy, etc., but they seem to have gotten on the woke train, and Lecrae especially has gone downhill, even in his idea of what church should be. Also, not very many of them go hard like NF.

Shai Linne is very God-focused in his raps, but I find his style too slow and reserved. IV Connerly also seems very solid in his faith, but he doesn't seem to have much available.

Anybody have any ideas for a picky hip-hop fan like me?

I don't think he's active anymore, but I would check out Evangel. He's an amazing lyricist and I don't think he ever went woke (in fact he made a song addressing Lecrae when Lecrae started going downhill). You should also check out Timothy Brindle.

Not sure what you mean by hard but I enjoy 1:16, J Son, Bizzle and Tedashii. You could also check Melvillous if you like Grime…

I'm not up on the latest rap or hip hop, but can relate to the dilemma.
I just started to get into Jethro Tull and checked out their most recent album and...gross, Ian Anderson went Woke.
Or, always was and just never spoke about it until now.  But the lyrics to the title track especially turned me off.
Still like their old stuff but I'm tired of this Woke/CRT crap appearing in songs, even by Christian bands.

"Woke" is a mind virus.

A degenerate's warped version of "polite society".

A narcissistic secular religion, with virtue-signaling being their "call to prayer".

It's all designed to subvert Western culture by policing/controlling speech. Which is the precursor to controlling thought.

Too many Christians are falling into this trap. We're starting to see a bit of it here on this very forum...

This is the kind of style I'm interested in (especially after 1:10 in the track):

And this is a style that bores me (even though I agree with the lyrical content):

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Dont think they're active anymore, but there's also the Gospel Gangstaz (a surprisingly rare example of Christian Gangsta rap).

Destiny Lab is the best rap I've heard Christian or secular:

Also, the CMC's were a great gansta rap band.

Necessary context: I'm not really a hip-hop guy at all. Don't hate it, but would never choose it.

That said I've recently been borderline infatuated with B-Shoc, at least some of his stuff. Music goes from hip hop to synthwave and hard to soft, lyrics are both Christian and ridiculous/sophomoric/not really serious (which I what I love, honestly, sometimes so bad they're good, but kind of on purpose, I think?). IMO Jesus Jump is honestly a pretty fun song, might also check out Helicopter, Holy Hip-Hop, and Helicopter for a start.
