Bruce Springsteen
Any other fans of the Boss here? I know Constantine doesn’t like him, but surely I’m not the only fan here. He’s been one of my favorites for over 20 years now. For me, the stretch of albums from Born to Run through Tunnel of Love are unbeatable. My favorite album is Darkness on the Edge of Town.

Re: Bruce Springsteen
I could never get into him personally, but I had more than a few friends in the 80's who were big fans... especially of the Born In The U.S.A. album. One of my old friends has a son (probably 13 years old) who loves Springsteen.

I used to really like him and agree about that run of albums but he's such an extreme lefty these days it taints the music for me. He really wants to be Pete Seeger who was a sold out socialist.

I rarely let that kind of thing bother me. Unbelievers gonna be unbelievers.Black Rider wrote:I used to really like him and agree about that run of albums but he's such an extreme lefty these days it taints the music for me. He really wants to be Pete Seeger who was a sold out socialist.
That being said, The Rising was the last one of his I got into.

True. He does have one of the funniest lines in Thunder Road when he says: You ain't a beauty but hey you're alright. What a smoothie.

Funnily enough, I never used that line on a girl when I was dating…Black Rider wrote:True. He does have one of the funniest lines in Thunder Road when he says: You ain't a beauty but hey you're alright. What a smoothie.

Alright, alright...I admit it...I do like the songs "Dancing In The Dark" and "Hungry Heart" if I'm in the right mood. Also "Atlantic City." A good song is a good song, I try to be fair. I just find the guy's general oeuvre combined with his politics so repulsive. Please shoot me now!

I’ll let you slide for the nice use of oeuvre.Constantine wrote:Alright, alright...I admit it...I do like the songs "Dancing In The Dark" and "Hungry Heart" if I'm in the right mood. Only song I liked by him was Born to Run, tried listening to the Nebraska album (considered his best album), and it didnt impress me that much (Johnny 99 was the best song, but Johnny Cash's cover of it was superior).

I always got a kick of how Larry King would pronounce his name as "Stringspreen."
