Can you name any Christian Jam Bands?
Looking for names of any Christian Jam bands.
What is a "Jam band"? Wiki defines it as "a musical group whose concerts (and live albums) are characterized by lengthy improvisational "jams." Usually they play mellow, relaxing music with instrumental jams that take you on a soaring journey.
Secular bands or artists I'm thinking of include the Grateful Dead, Phish, Moe, Allman Brothers Band, The Why Store, The Spin Doctors, Gov't Mule, O.A.R., Big Head Todd & The Monsters, Blues Traveler, Blackberry Smoke, Dave Matthews Band, Deep Banana Blackout, The Disco Biscuits, Freddy Jones Band, Galactic, Leftover Salmon, Rusted Root, Sister Hazel, Widespread Panic, etc.
There's some overlap between "jam band" and roots rock.

Keaggy sort of on some of his albums is all I can think of.

as I recall, this particular track is a live-improv-one-take-only.
it's PK and John Sferra, the drummer from his band Glass Harp.
Awesome...

I always felt that The 77's were a Jam Band even though we didn't use that term at the time.

I was actually thinking that The 77's might qualify as a roots rock band (my other post). But I'll check them out again, I'm not as familiar with their music as some here are.L8T wrote:I always felt that The 77's were a Jam Band even though we didn't use that term at the time.

Maybe, I haven't used either of those terms, except to call The Dead and Phish jam bands.....

I acquiesce. I have not used the "Jam Band" or "Roots Rock" terms much in my life......... which is probably a good thing...
