Time for another thread about these. Now I'm not talking offensive lyrics, just lyrics that are incredibly ridiculous, even if the song itself is good. Kerrick's going to hate me for this, but here's a gem from Maiden's Empire of the Clouds:

Sorry, but I always bust out laughing when I hear that line, it's so over the top.

As a power metal fan, I have no experience with cheesy lyrics.

Andreas needs to repent for his lies. 

Stryper ballads are a good starting point.

As a proof of my repentance I will submit that there's way way worse than Sonata Arctica. Now considering that cheesy does not completely equal bland and uninspired, I still have way too many examples for you, even from my favorite bands. Which means that whichever example I take, I can't really go wrong. So here's one:

"Heeding the call

Every Hammerfall song qualifies but I really enjoy them.

Even though I love them, Anvil are definitely masters of the art of cheesy lyrics.

Every hair or glam metal band in the world mastered these. Cheese goes great with everything. Well, except pancakes.
