Temple of Blood news update
Priority right now is wrapping up the tracking for our upcoming album "A Show of Force". Bass guitar is still being tracked now, and we have a cool instrumental track that our bassist wrote that will be featured on the album. I love audible bass guitar in metal!
Rhythm guitars are very close to finished. Maybe in another week or two.
Practicing vocals to get ready to track as soon as guitars are in the can. At the same time I am tracking vocals I will be soliciting guitar solos from the other 2 guys. Hopefully it will all be done about the same time but we'll see.
The drums for the album were performed by Scott Fuller who used to play for Havok and now plays in Morbid Angel. His skill is pretty amazing I must say. I think you guys will be surprised when you hear it.
We have brought on a new drummer who is very skilled and has a ton of recordings under his belt. Since the focus is on getting the album released we haven't spent time with him much yet but will as soon as tracks are sent off for mixing and mastering.
Since we found another local drummer we will be able to support local/regional shows again if something big comes up but for the most part the focus will be on recording another album. I already have about 20 minutes or so of music written for the follow-up and I'm really chomping at the bit to be creative and make up for lost time. Once all band members are able to track from home and not wait for the studio to be available it should help speed up the whole process.

The vocal approach/performance and production (especially the vocals in the mix) should dictate where this one ultimately ranks on the all-time Christian thrash list because I’m sure the music will be there. Could it be the first modern Christian thrash classic? Time will tell.
I'm sure the vocals will be better than before and the mix will be good, and I feel very confident about the material, but I think it will be hard to top the nostalgia some people have for those old Christian thrash albums. I wonder if many of them were released today if anyone would care.

Objectively, and knowing what is popular in the thrash scene right now, I would say no as far as the non-Christian scene goes. None of them would even make a splash. But you could say that about most if not all of the early thrash albums by the 'Big 4' as well.Temple of Blood wrote:

I think most of those would still go over pretty well, except for a few releases like "State of Euphoria".

I doubt "Show No Mercy" or "Fistful Of Metal" would be appreciated now, because even Slayer and Anthrax fans distanced themselves from those albums back in the day. Metallica and Megadeth would stand a better chance.Temple of Blood wrote:

I think "Show No Mercy" is one of their best albums, but I don't think "Fistful" really went over all that well even back in the day TBH.

Constantine wrote:I like both of them a lot, especially the 1st Slayer which is my favorite of theirs by far. But being objective about it, I think both of those albums would be seen as more speed metal than thrash at this point. Not that there's anything wrong with that, but my opinion matters little when trying to discern what I believe the current state of thrash is.
I lump speed metal in with thrash personally.
Actually, if you go back to the earliest interviews of these bands Exodus, Metallica, etc. they categorized their music at the time as "power metal".

Music sounds really good. I like the raw unmixed sound.Temple of Blood wrote:Since you guys have been so patient with us over the years, I thought I'd share with you a RAW unmixed, unmastered sample of music from the new album.

Re: Temple of Blood news update
Just wanted to give everyone a track-by-track run through of our upcoming album:
1. "What Should Not Be Said" - an instrumental intro build up that's pretty progressive
2. "Trilemma" - a raging thrasher, our fastest song ever, which has the correct take on the same topic Exodus illiterately tried to cover in "Lunatic Liar Lord"
3. "Exalted" - anthemic power metal inspired by some of the my favorite melodic US power metal bands like Queensryche, Fates Warning, Crimson Glory, etc.
4. "Greater than Death" - 3 minute fast raging thrasher with some punishing riffs. This one will be our first single. It's about the things in life that are worth dying for.
5. "A Show of Force" - melodic thrashy tune that's a bit less crazy and a bit more "epic" sounding. It's about slaughtering the prophets of Baal
6. "The Advocate and the Accuser" - mid-paced stomper inspired by stuff like 80s Exodus. Has maybe our toughest riff ever in it, a really tricky one as Garth and I will attest to!
7. "Escape from the Abyss" = frenetic speed metal with a lot of twists and turns. I really think folks will like this one and it doesn't sound like any other band really.
8. "Battle Angels" - cover of the old Sanctuary song. I first heard this song on a cassette metal compilation and always thought it was really catchy. Challenging vocals to say the least!
9. "Desolation" - an instrumental that Garth wrote that I really like. Kinda spooky and ominous. Guest keys provided by Joe Whitworth. This track really sets the mood for ....
10. "Curse of Black Hearts". The final song that ends on a really heavy note, with some blast beats and fast drumming. This one was a lot of fun to play live and I think works really well as an album closer.
Guitar solos are played by Andre' Corbin (ex-Helstar, who was last heard by the public on their 1990 masterpiece "Nosferatu"), as well as Aureilen Gonzalez (an amazing phenom from the French band Dead Tree Seeds who captures the vibe of classic thrash metal extremely well with his soloing style)

Same! Hoping the vocals match the music this time around and, if so, are prominent in the mix.
